In Cedar Falls CU wins the 1st two sets (18, 23) but UNI comes back to win the 3rd and 4th sets (11, 17). 5th set coming up.
Update: CU takes the 5th set 15-8 and grabs control of the regular championship race.
Also, MSU easily seeps INS 13, 13 and 14.Last edited by 1972Shocker; November 3, 2012, 09:12 PM.

Shocks crumble at end of the 4th set and Illinois takes the set 25-16 to win the match 3-1.
Without Sam and with Ashley apparently not feeling well and not very effective the Shocks simply could not match the firepower of the Redbirds.
The loss of Sam really showed up tonight and if she can't come back the Shocks probably don't have enough firepower to beat either MSU or CU. Ashley also was under the weather with illness this weekend. That's very difficult to overcome.
Emily is frustrated as teams focus on her and dare someone else to beat them.Last edited by 1972Shocker; November 3, 2012, 09:58 PM.

This team is feeling the loss of Sam for sure but as a whole they are struggling offensively. Starting to wonder if the setting is the common denominator. Chelsey has a great dump at the net but she often sets hitters into double blocks and pretty far off the net making it difficult for them to see the court. Is that a reflection on the passing? Maybe so, maybe not. What would our hitting percentage be if you took Chelsey's percentage out of the mix?

The injuries and illnesses, combined with an inexplicable turn of play starting with the UNI match set this loss up as almost certain. You could just see it coming. WSU is a lot better than this (certainly when healthy) but you have to play the hand you are dealt.
A real gut check coming up Friday. Sick or not, hurt or not, we have a week to figure something out and right the ship.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.
