Emily redshirted in 2013 and took over as a R-FR in 2014. I would expect Sarah to follow a similar path. Izzy is too good to be replaced by a freshman, I don't care how good she is, but I've been wrong many times before so who knows.

If the double contact goes over the net to the opposing team, then that hit will be called a fault.
I'm glad they changed that rule. I wonder if coach has everyone working on, at least a little bit, on setting overhand. It doesn't have to be pretty, just accurate. If you have enough players that can deliver an accurate set, a team might never be out-of-system.

I believe they said we will be hosting the AAC post-season volleyball tournament next year and the AAC is still working on the conference schedule for next year after the departure of SMU.

Hopefully going to the Team USA camps will be helpful to Brooklyn, Emmerson and Morgan.

They said Lamb compared Sarah Musial to Emily Hiebert. Maybe she won't be redshirted, instead taking the starting job from Izzi..? If she could beat out Izzi as a freshman, she will have the potential to be really really good.

Go Shockers - RH: Podcast On Shocker Volleyball With Katie Zimmerman, Ashleigh Houlton

    Listen to the podcast

Assistant coaches Katie Zimmerman and Ashleigh Houlton update us on spring volleyball practices.

We look back at the NIVC title and how the trip to El Paso motivated the Shockers. We discuss newcomers Sarah Musial, a freshman setter, and outside Alyssa Gonzales, a transfer from TCU. We dive into Morgan Stout's improvement in 2023, what's ahead for Emerson Wilford and candidates to break into regular playing time in 2024. We wrap up with a conversation about favorite coffee places in Wichita and coach Chris Lamb's regular order at Fairmount Coffee Co.

The Shockers are early in their spring practices and they will play their spring scrimmages starting in March. Both Zimmerman and Houlton are in their third seasons on the coaching staff at WSU.

The Shockers went 26-8 last season, 15-4 in the AAC, and won five matches in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship to take that title with a sweep at UTEP.

Go Shockers - Volleyball Unveils Spring Schedule

Head coach Chris Lamb has announced the 2024 spring schedule for the Wichita State volleyball program.
    • March 6 - at Oklahoma (6:30 PM)
    • March 29 - at Kansas State (5:00 PM)
    • April 6 - at Kansas City Tournament (Time TBD)
    • April 13 - at Kansas/Missouri (Time TBD)
The schedule is filled with familiar foes. Wichita State and Oklahoma played a fall exhibition last season, with the Shockers rallying for a 3-2 win at Charles Koch Arena. Kansas State and Kansas City were spring opponent for the Shockers in 2023, and Kansas came to Wichita for the Shocker Volleyball Classic in early September.

Wichita State returns 11 players from the 2023 club that finished 26-8 and won the NIVC championship, dropping just one set over five matches in the run to the title. All-Conference selections Izzi Strand and Morgan Stout are back to complement a talented group of liberos and defensive specialists in Gabi Maas, Katie Galligan, Annalie Heliste and Reagan Anderson. Chris Lamb enters his 25th season at the helm in 2024 with 508 career wins, just the ninth active NCAA coach to reach 500 victories at a single school.
