Just read the announcement of the AAC volleyball tournament.

" All-Conference selections Morgan Stout and Izzi Strand return to the roster in 2024, in addition to outside hitters Emerson Wilford and Brooklyn Leggett and a group of veteran defensive specialists led by Annalie Heliste, Katie Galligan and Reagan Anderson."
What happened to Gabi Maas? An oversight, did she transfer, or is her injury that bad?

Hope it's just an oversight. If so, maybe an edit, if possible, is needed.

Who knows. Gabi is still listed on the updated 2024 roster that includes all of this fall's newcomers.

The Volleyball transfer portal window was in December plus there was an additional window from May 1 to May 15. So it does not appear she has transferred.

So it would seem to be just an oversight OR her injury is serious enough that she will miss this upcoming fall season. A torn ACL would do the trick for example.

I was also curious why she did not seem to be on the Brazil trip even with the injury. A serious injury that involves surgery and a tough rehab would explain that as well.

Unfortunately, with privacy laws being what they are there is not very much transparency about these things so fans are left to wonder and speculate.

Looks like the ladies had a great trip and experience.

Wonder if we might get a Roundhouse Podcast interview with Lambo on what was accomplished volleyball-wise with this trip and the practices leading into it.

That would be great. It looked like there were several different lineups in the clips from their trip. Wonder if he has a good feeling about who is likely to be the starting 6 (or 7) and how solid that lineup is. Any big surprises from the new comers? Was the level of competition up to what he wanted? Who got the worse sunburn?

BTW, this is the banner on Brooklyn's X page. Is that not Caden Favors?

It is. Caden and Brooklyn have dated since shortly after she arrived on campus. Very nice couple.

I am not really expecting Sarah Musial to play this year assuming Izzi is healthy and Lambo goes with a 5-1 offense all year. That said seems like just about every highlight of one of the Shocker attackers includes a set delivered by Sarah. Tiny sample size but I think Sarah has the goods.

I agree. I hope Sarah is even better than Izzi. I remember coach mentioning that he thinks Izzi is good enough to play at the professional level. If Sarah is better, the team is in good shape for (hopefully) 4 more years after Izzi graduates.

Heard coach on the radio a few days ago say that KU is the holdup to getting the schedule released. So...we are probably going to be playing KU in non-con. Arizona State has Long Beach State also playing at Nebraska when we go up there. Long Beach State is not on Nebraska's schedule last I checked, but they might only be playing Arizona State and the Shockers at Nebraska. Wonder if we will be playing Creighton this year. They usually have a good RPI.

Non-con schedule update (per Nebraska's schedule):

9/12 6pm CDT- Arizona State (Thurs)
9/13 3:30pm CDT- Long Beach State (Fri)
                              9/14 2pm CDT- Nebraska (Sat)

                              Per Omaha's schedule
                              9/21 4pm CDT- Omaha v WSU (Sat)

We must play Cal Poly on Thursday 9/19. Omaha plays Northern Colorado at 2 pm on Thursday. We play Northern Colorado on 9/20. The Shocker non-con tournament looks like it should be full of competitive volleyball, except for the WSU games. Those matches can be lopsided in our favor.

Admittedly I really don't know what Omaha, Northern Colorado and Cal Poly will have this coming season but Omaha took the Shocks to 5 sets last year at Northern Colorado. The Shocks beat UNC on their home court in 4 sets playing their best match of the tournament. Cal Poly replaces Bradley in this tournament grouping this year which I think is an upgrade. Cal Poly is historicallty a pretty good volleyball program as is UNC. I am not buying that this will be 3 easy wins for Shocks. I think they will have to dialed in and ready to play in this tournament.

I would be disappointed if the Shocks don't go 3-0 in this tournament but I don't expect it to be a cakewalk.
