SCOUTING THE HUSKIES:
Kansas City enters play on Friday with a record of 3-4 against a challenging schedule. The Roos opened the season in Peoria at the Bradley Invitational, which included a match against #21 Western Kentucky, then moved on to New Orleans for the Tulane Classic, where they defeated American Athletic Conference foe Tulane in straight sets and also downed Howard in five.
The Roos home opener came Wednesday night against recent Shocker opponent Kansas. The 19th-ranked Jayhawks rallied for a four-set win after Kansas City claimed the opening set, 24-26, 25-13, 25-14, 25-16.
Kansas City was picked seventh in the 2022 Summit League preseason poll after a 21-10 (12-6) campaign a season ago. The Roos were upended in the first round of the Summit League tournament by Oral Roberts.
The Swinney Center has proven a tough venue for opposing teams, as the Roos went 7-2 on their home floor in 2021.
Kansas City head coach Christi Posey was a member of the volleyball and softball teams at WSU before transferring to KU, where she graduated and later coached as an assistant. Now in her 12th season with the Roos, Posey led Kansas City to their first-ever postseason appearance at the D1 level in 2019, a bid to the NIVC.
