Shocks finish off the sweep with a 25-23 win in set 3 on Lambo's birthday.

I didn't think either team was very good in Set 3 but the Shocks were a little less bad that USF.

Great to get a win. Not sure how to evaluate it though. USF was not very impressive.

Megan Taflinger was impressive in her 3rd match in a 6 rotation role.

Apparently McKayla suffered a head injury. I showed up about 10 points into set 1 do but sure when that happened.

Setting has been okay but still not great.

      Defense has been good.
The coaches have decided to go bigger to improve hitting and blocking. Sina and Nicole offer better defense, but the hitting just isn't there. With Brylee and Sophia in there you get better hitting and blocking. But they are both defensive and passing liabilities.

Things have begun to trend upward for this team. This season is largely over for them from a competitive stand point...but trending upward into the spring will give them momentum with hopes of player development and maybe we get a few surprises with the incoming recruiting class for next season. An example of player development that needs to happen is getting Chinelo approach fixed when she is hitting right side. She is leading with her right hip, and since she is right handed she loses power. She clearly is a MH but the coaches have decided to take their chances with her as a hitter but they are using her to help shore up blocking against the LH from the opponent. I know there is 1 maybe 2 coming in next year who will he upgrades on the pins and will give Coach more flexibility with his lineups.

Very proud if the girls, because despite a difficult season they have continued to play for each other and their attitudes are fantastic.

Arjomand Selected to American Weekly Honor Roll

Wichita State University volleyball freshman libero/defensive specialist Arianna Arjomand was selected to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor for her performance during the week of Oct. 14-20.

Arjomand, a native of Orlando, Fla., led the Shockers defensively for the week with 4.14 digs per set and 29 total digs while compiling a .978 reception percentage with only one reception error.

So I listened to a replay of Lambo's pregame interview where he reported that McKayla had apparently taken a blow to the head (from a ball I assume although Lambo didn't say plus Lambo was not on the arena floor when it happened) and was ruled out for the game. That would imply she is probably in concussion protocal. I imagine we will hear more about that on Lambo's radio show this eveining.

Mikaela Raudsepp got hit in the head with a ball during warmups a few years back and she missed quite a few matches in concussion protocol. Hopefully, the crunch on Wuensch won't be quite as bad and she will make a quick return to the lineup.

How does Tulane do that and then turn around 2 days later and lose at home to ECU?

Had to have happened Saturday night or Sunday morning. She was at the baseball game Saturday afternoon and certainly appeared just fine (I'm NOT a DR, just play one on Shockernet).

It apparently happened during the warmups before Sunday's USF match. Lambo did not provide to many details because I don't think he had too many details. In fact, it sounded like he may have just been informed before starting his pre-match interview with Mike.
