The Shocks outhit Cal Poly .321 to .229, out-blocked them 12-7 and out-dug them 66-64. However, Cal Poly had 13 service aces to 10 service errors and the Shocks had 6 service aces to 17 service errors which combined with the Shockers slow start to the the match and somewhat slow finish was enough to overcome the Shocks hitting and blocking advantage.

Megan Taflinger probably had the best match of her career hitting 19-0-34 = .543 plus 2 solo blocks and a block assist. She also had 2 service aces but had 5 service errors.

Nicole Anderson hit a very solid 17-3-38 = .368 and 15 digs for her second career double-double.

Sina Uluave was 14-5-32 = .281 after a bit of a slow start and added 12 digs for her first career double-double. Sina is a bit prone to overpasses but I think that will improve with time on the court.

Chinelo Ogogor was 7-1-21 = .281 and added a block solo and 3 block assists. Considering Chinelo has been very limited in practice time I thought her performance was very promising.

Emma Wright wasn't much of a factor in the offensive attack hitting 2-2-10 = .000 but she did contribute 2 block solos and 3 block assists.
thwhy Lambo is so high on her.

Even without Torrey Van Winden Cal Poly is a very good opponent and they are especially difficult to beat on their home court. 6-1 Jr. OH Maia Dvoracek is a very good player and has a terrfic serve as she had 8 service aces. I also was pretty impressed with Cal Poly's 6-2 So. S Avalon Denecochea who is scoring threat at the setter position. Cal Poly is a relatively young team as well.

Now will the Shocks be able to carry this effort forward today and beyond. Let's hope so. They showed what they are capable of. Hopefully, this will serve as a big confidence booster. I think they may have been a little shell-shocked by the Penn State match.

          Shockers v North Texas

          Pre-match Comments

Stats are very strange. Shockers hit higher on the pins last night than in the middle, mostly due to weak setting. One server for CP was a big difference.

Little's defense will make the difference - needs to improve.

          Talked about setting accuracy.

Can we follow up a performance, can we backup a performance, can we have another match where we fight to the end?

          Set One

6-2 with Kora and McKayla. Arianna is the libero?

          No LiveStats.

Several Shocker leads of three and four almost from the beginning. The lead dropped to one at 13-12, but at 16-12, NT takes a TO.

            Lambo's pregame comments:

Anytime you're young youi are going to see inconsistencies but hie thought his team showed they have a high ceiling.

He said it was an odd stat sheet with one Cal Poly player scoring big on her serve.

Right now as setters improves and defense from tehe littles is will determine how far this team goes.

Talked about how Nicole and Sina aren't high flyers but get what they want with good vision and smarts.

The big thing is can you validate a good performance by backing it up the next time out. Win or lose he said he would be happy if they can validate their Cal Poly effort (sans the first 5 points).

He was comparing the Shockers performance against Cal Poly against Emily Hiebert's 1st year and said that team did not put anything together like the Shocks did against Cal Poly in the 1st month of the season.

Hopefully Kennedy can make it through this game without any technical issues.

Doesn't sound like the Shocks are getting a lot of real hard swings but they are playing clean and keeping rallies going. Lead 16-12 as NTS calls a timeout.

Shocks blocking well. According to Mike the Shocks are connecting better in the middle today than they did last night. Shocks lead 20-13 as NTS calls their 2nd timeout of the set.

Lily Liekweg seeing her 1st official playing time as a Shocker.

                  20-13 and another TO.

Emma gets a third kill on a quick. Kora was the setter.

A Shocker TO at 23-17 after three in a row by NT.

25-19 as NT is in/under the net.

Lily Liekweg is the libero in this set.

Not a real strong finish to the 1st set for the Shocks but they hang on for the 25-19 win.

Strong finish to close out set 3 on a 11-2 run. Perhaps the Shocks' best stretch of the match so far. Let's end this in 4 Shocks.

20-15 and a second TO by NT.

                                23-16, then 23-19 and a Shocker TO.
