    Same starters as yesterday: Brylee, Emma, Nicole, Sina, McKayla, Megan with Kara as the libero.

    Kayce and Damadj rotate in again.

    6-3 was the biggest lead for the Shocks until a four-point run got a 19-14 lead and a Hofstra TO. Five service errors for Hofstra.

    22-17, then 22-20 and a Shocker TO. Sina having a problem with overpasses.

    Another overpass by Sina and Arianna is on for her.

    Another point by the Pride for 22-22 and another Shocker TO.

    A kill by Nicole to regain the lead and Hofstra takes their final TO.

    A kill by Brylee and then four touches by Hofstra.

    Shockers, 25-23.

      I think that is at least 4 overpasses for Sina. She is really struggling with that and you wonder about her confidence level right now.

      And just like that she's out on the back row and Arianna is in.

      23-22 after a Nicole Anderson kill. Shocks have 4 freshmen and 2 seniors on the floor in crunch time, 1 of the seniors a grad transfer.

    Shocks hang on for a 25-23 win. Should have been easier than that but there is something to be said for giving up the momentum late but still finding a way to win.

      Set Two

      Same starters, including Sina.

      Nothing much going right. Hofstra leads 10-4, and Lambo takes a TO.

      I'm not sure even our uniforms look good this set. Looking and playing like a young, inexperienced and frankly poor team the last 20 minutes or so for the first time.

      Need to gather themselves and regain some composure as this is about to be a best 2 of 3 match.

        4-13 before Nicole gets a kill.

        Hofstra scored early and late and often.

        Shockers lose the set, 13-25.

        No LiveStats at the moment.

          Shocks were never a factor in Set 2 and, as Doc said, looked bad in just about every phase of the game. Will this young team be able to turn it around or are they done?

            Set Three

            Arianna is the libero.

            First four points for the Shocks are two service errors and two blocks.

            A four-point run is a 7-3 Shocker lead, and the Pride takes a TO.

              Not much to build on. Kind of surprised Lambo didn't clear the bench just to give them a rest or different perspective, anything. Hofstra is oozing confidence right now.

              No doubt there are shortcomings with this team. Some good young talent too, but we could really use Chinelo and Sophia to provide some depth, freshness and scoring. Gotta find more ways to score to be successful.

                  Indeed, but the defense, especially the block, is much much better this set. Timeout Hofstra with the Shocks leading 13-6. Sina swinging well now after a really tough 2nd set.

                The hitting picks up and the Shocker lead grows to 13-6 and Hofstra takes their last TO of the set.

                Arianna seems a bit shaky to me.

                13-10, then 16-10.

                When they are serving your libero, that is not a good thing. Shockers still lead.

                  Arianna struggling at the libero this set imho. Several less than acceptable passes. All good swings start with a good pass.

                    Sina gets the final kill for 25-18 and the third set.

                    Shockers lead 2-1.

                    .239 v .230 for the three sets. Eights kills for Brylee and seven for Sina and Megan.

                      A good bounce back for the Shocks although still some things that need to be cleaned up. Offense much better that set especially when we could get in system with a good pass. However, the passing still inconsistent and could be better as Doc pointed out.

                      I wonder if Lambo perhaps made some defensive adjustments in that 3rd set. Cetainly was much, much better than set 2 when Hofstra seem to get anything they want.
