The Shocks open up the 2nd half of the AAC Conference season with a well-timed trip to Florida considering Wichita is expecting its first freeze of the Fall this weekend. The Shocks take on UCF in Orlando on Friday at 6:00 pm CT. Video is available for $5.99 on KnightsTV.com (see match notes below for link). The Shocks then move over to Tampa for a mtach with USF on Sunday at 11:00 am CT. Video is available on BullsVision for $6.95 (again see match notes below for link).
Some lucky and might I say very generous Shocker supporter will join the team on this trip as a result of "winning" the live auction bid at the Volleyball 101 Dinner. Shoudl be a great experience. However, I hope he/she read the fine print. If the Shocks lose they get left behind. But I suppose being abandoned in Orlando or Tampa is a bit better then being marooned in Terre Haute or Cedar Falls. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
UCF gave the Shocks an interesting match in Wichita winning the 1st set 25-21 and losing the 2nd set 20-25 when the Shocks broke out of an 18-all tie by winning 7 of the final 9 points. The Shocks then cruised to 25-12 and 25-15 wins in Sets 3 and 4 to close out the match. IIRC UCF has some pretty impressive athletes most notably 5-11 RSr OH Kia Briight.
The Shocks handled USF in Wichita with relative ease with a 15, 17 and 10 sweep.
