We knew TRich would be slow coming along and he's behind quite a bit. Hamilton also is behind a lot of talent. DWill has shown what he's capable of, but is young. I am concerned with what got him in trouble. I don't know what it was, but it obviously wasn't good. And his lack of PT sense is concerning. He really could be quite a player for us if he gets it together.

Hamilton looks to be in position to get some PT next year. We'll see how it shakes out but he is quite an athlete and can use that to his advantage. With only one returning player with real experience the door is open. Granted, we are bringing in Hall, who should start from day one, and White, who sounds as though he may be ready to step in and help next season, to also compete for PT.

Richardson will still be behind Kyles, Smith, Murry (all SRs) and could be competing with Wessel and Cotton. If TRich can shoot like he's been said to and can play respectable D, he could see some court time. There's always room for a shooter.

Don't forget about a young man from Vinita, Oklahoma who was at the game Tuesday night.

Here is my concern. Over the first 11 games, there has been potential opportunity to see more of Hamilton & Richardson. I'm willing to give J-Ham some grace because of his early season ankle injury (not sure if that had any effect however). WSU have blown out 6 or 7 opponents to the point these young men should have seen more action, if they have what it takes to help this team starting next year. Walk-on Derek Brown has almost as many minutes as Richardson & Hamilton. Am I the only one that has a weird feeling about their long-term contribution to this program?

All the fact that they have similar minutes to Brown says is that they haven't broken into the rotation, so, like Brown, they are only seeing time in mop up minutes.

Given the people in front of them on the depth chart, the fact that they haven't made the rotation is hardly surprising. Who is it that you would have expected to get out of the rotation for them to get in? You can't very well run a 13 man rotation in college ball and keep any kind of cohesion.

Derek Brown is also a SR. Some of those early blowout games were used to get the new guys expected to contribute more court time. But I understand your concern.

Please read my post again. I am not talking about a 13-man rotation. I agree with you there. I am talking about ample, although limited, opportunities through early season blowouts to get these players more than a minute or two of playing time. This program needs as many playmakers as they think they can get a hold of. Although there are a couple of candidates going forward, we don't have that player that jumps off the page and says "I will put this team on my back when the need arises." If that type of player is available come spring, who losses at rock-paper-scissors?

The fact that Marshall hasn't given a lot of minutes to the deep bench doesn't necessarily indicate anything.

For instance, he could be playing the top-10 of the rotation more minutes because he has things he wants to work on with them in regards to running different lineups and developing chemistry. The idea that Marshall cares more about using those minutes to work on stuff that will benefit us this year instead of minutes for guys that will be factors next year an later is just a coaching choice.

At the end of the day, I think you'd be hard pressed to find many coaches that are giving many minutes to anyone outside of the top 10 in the rotation.

I see from the link that he is in FCA. A friend of mine heard GS speak (which was a FCA function) recently and was impressed with how well and the ease with which he spoke to the group. He said afterwards he spent time with several younger kids talking to them. Be nice if this could be a common bond between Jake and Garrett.

I think that the lack of minutes for TR and JH only speaks to the quality upperclassmen in front of them. HCGM decided to spend the early season minutes giving Smith, Rags, and EO a chance to learn DI basketball as well as work out the PG competition.

The only thing I am comfortable saying about the future of our freshman is that they are not as good as our three JUCOs or DWill right now...I would expect both of them to be upperclassmen contributors but not stars. We will definitely need some contribution from Hamilton next year. Tyler can ride the pine one more year if he's not ready.
