I watcheed the entire game VanVleet played against the #1 ranked PG. Van Vleet was not putplayed in that game. I didn't see the games against the #3 and #5 PG's, but the reports are that FVV ate those guys for lunch. The game I saw doesn't appear to be an anomaly. There's evidence FVV's good game against the #1 guy wasn't because the #1 guy was off.
The #1 guy's coach even said they tried everything they had to stop Van Vleet and nothing worked. The results when Van Vleet got his hands on the ball in the flow of the offense back up that claim by the coach.
The #1 PG in the nation could not stop FVV when FVV got his hands on the ball in the flow of the offense. Either Fred was scoring or he forced a defensive error and found an open guy.
I don't care where FVV is rated by the services.
