    Manigault was highly rated. thanks.

Being highly rated doesn't always translate into great things at the next. Level

I think he began to see additional attention last year, about the time he narrowed his list and left off the BCS schools. As a result, he will not get the nod between now and next year.

Noboby from Minnesota is a top 100 recruit, and I don't believe they even have a top 150. In Minnesota Jake is regarded by most as the 3rd best PF in the State, however he has a vote or two as being the best one they have.

Jake had a great junior campaign. Going into last season Travis Ross was regarded by almost everybody as being the best on the team. He could not play at the beginning of the year and Jake really took over. WSU had some early interest in Ross but for whatever reason nothing came of it. After his senior year, he will play for Penn State.

I think I'm being very generous in saying Jake is probably rated close to what Toure' was. I guessed Toure' as about 330th in rankings. Good enough to start every game for us, and hopefully go to the NBA.

I don't know if Jake ever cut his list. If he did, I missed the announcement.

of the current Shockers on the roster who was regarded as the most highly regarded HS player? Does anyone know who has been the highest ranked HS player HCGM has recruited? in the last ten years what top 150 players have donned a shocker uniform.

                Thanks

Minnesota does have a few top players..

Siyani Chambers a 5'10 pg plays for Hopkins Hs in Minnesota
and plays his AAU ball with the Howard Pulley Panthers is a top 150 kid. Whom I believe the shockers have interest in. There are other kids on that Howard Pulley 2012 team who are also highly regarded

Somewhere on here we've done some of this. Jamar Howard, Sean Ogirri, Phil Thomasson and Kyle Wilson were all Top 150 talents. That's off the top of my head, I may be missing someone.

As far as Marshall goes, I'd guess KJ and Stutz were the two highest rated although both out of the Top 150 but were constantly talked about as others to watch on Rivals.

Trop or someone else might be able to provide more names or more accurate info.

Someone asked about Top 100 talent and we were only talking, I believe, about '11.

On the current roster, I believe most would consider GS, DK and TM between top 300 to 350. All other high school recruits no better than top 500.

Indeed, when I was discussing Minnesota recruits it was limited to the class of 2011.

Marshall's highest rated freshman would probably go to Manigault. Scout ranked him 95th fairly early on. I can't remember if he hung on to a top 150 ranking or not by them. Rivals never had him in their top 150.

On the quetion about the last 10 years, I'll pas as my knowledge only goes to MT's last two recruiting classes.

Good to hear but not surprised if we are trying to go after Chambers. He is four star by Rivals and ESPN and a Scout top150. I think Chambers was good enough to actually play up a year with Howard Pulley and played on the 17U team last summer. Joe Coleman, who we had early interest in was on that team. He will be at Minnesota next year. Chambers has been known for years in Minnesota as an outstanding pg and team leader. As of now Minnesota hasn't shown much interest in Chambers but that was also the case last year with Coleman.

The coaching staff is thrilled to get Jake and I'm sure Coach Jans hopes he is a foot in the door in Minnesota.

I think Ellis was a top 300 guy as he initially signed with South Carolina. I think Williams was in the 300-400 range (got attention due to his McDonald's AA team mate), and I'm positive Stutz was in the 150-250 range.

Smith and Ragland were both highly regarded JUCO recruits, but not in the top 50 (equivalent to top 150 HS recruits).
