The student section at the time was behind what is now the visitor bench. It was reserved seating for students and my seats were in row 4 - 6. I was not at the Iowa game, so this is probably the most memorable Shocker home victory for me, though that is a long list.

Speaking of T in his playing days at KU----FSF was watching them play on the tube and Turgeon the Surgeon was on the bench(rare). It was a close game---and as I remember it--- Turgeon sorta got too close to the playing floor---maybe actually on it----and Coach Brown noticed it and popped him on the side of his head ---and escorted him back on the bench where he belonged to avoid a T on T. Anybody else remember that episode? Someday, I may ask him live on the radio if he remembers that. I figure he for sure remembers it if I do. It was not a love tap either and it sure got the attention of the cameras.
While I was never a KU fan and never will be, as a player, Coach T had tons of heart, was a very productive and competitive team player, and overcame the odds against him to become a key element all 4 years. If I recall, he wrote a letter to Coach Brown asking him for a chance to play for KU and assured him that he would do his part, and was obviously persuasive.
Back then, there were some extra schollies available, so his wish was granted. Then he made good of his claims far and beyond and exceeding what anybody but himself ever dreamed he could accomplish. He believed in himself, and was given a chance, worked very hard, and made the very best of his opportunity. That is good stuff that I dig.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Just think----there could be 400 posts on here by the time Noel Johnson makes his final College choice. And I hope he brings 1-2 pals with him. Hmmm---I wonder if he knows how cool it would be to wear black and gold just like Cheese did!!!!!!! In the article that TS posted, they call him a Superstar Soph and his work ethic is beyond awesome. That was a very cool thread. I will follow this young man's career no matter where he plays College hoops.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Yes, but I think chances are good that he will verbal during his Junior year. 9 out of the top 24 on Rivals '08 list have already done that and the year school year isn't over. He has made a public listing, and also has indicated a desire to perhaps play with Favors. I think he (or they) could be "off the board" pretty quick. There will not be much hesitation about giving them a double offer. If I were a coach, that offer would already be made.In the fast lane
