When I said Drake had the lead over WSU if basketball was the deciding factor, I was referring to his past and present relationship with Coach Phelps, not the facilities or fan support. I really don't know how many 19 year olds (even very mature ones like Johnny) would give real credit to the facilities. I grant you they would be considered, but I don't know if they would be the "deciding" factor. Fan support to a 19 year old may have more sway. It's hard to not like crowd noise when you know the noise is for you.

I know it has been reported here that Johnny will be attending Sunday's game. It is a Sunday, it is AT Drake and it is on national television. All this will bring out the Drake bandwagon fans so there should be a full house.

We still have to remember there may be other schools still being considered.

I got the impression from the first post by Johnny's brother (I think in the other thread about Johnny) that Creighton WAS the leader after Johnny decided to leave ASU, but that they were no longer in the picture. Maybe they have no scholarship available. No real reason was given by his brother.

He also referenced a school or two that wanted him to wait on the scholarship issue til next year.

I think they wanted him to go to a Juco so they could have a scholarship open for him. Cause aren't they already over one scholarship or somethin?

My impression is that the other schools are wanting him to pay his own way this spring or attend a juco for a semester because they are full THIS year. Some have uncommitted scholarships for next year, others don't (see Creighton).

WSU is in the position to give him a scholaship THIS spring since we're currently one under the limit right now. I wonder if Drake is also in that position?

From what I can gather WSU and Drake are the top two, but the others are options if he wanted to make the sacrifice of not receiving a scholarship this spring.

We won't get somebody just like coy if we don't get coy. He is a consensus top 150 player from the 2008 class. I can't remember the last player that came to wsu that was as skilled as him.

We've had at least 3 Top 150 guys in recent memory in Wilson, Thomasson and Ogirri. I believe Howard was as well. But it's possible he fell off at the end.

I like Coy as much as anyone but ratings aren't everything. Some of our best players were unranked. And some of those guys our performed our ranked guys.


If we don't get Coy we will eventually get someone like him. Maybe not in the next class but Marshall will land us some top flight talent.
