Johnny Coy -- Current Shocker!!!

I haven't seen much about his skill set except he is a good 3 point shooter and his jump shot really improved during his senior year. I noticed he had a lot of blocks. I didn't watch any of his AAU games.

With the way our Basketball team has been doing, we will be lucky if he picks us, and it would probably be because of what our Baseball program could offer him.

Johnny probably knows that he is more likely to make better money, and possibly a living, in baseball. However, I have a bad feeling that Johnny's first love is basketball. It may sound shallow and that I'm not giving him enough credit to see our basketball future, but we could really use a win tonight. I hope I'm wrong. Hopefully, Stevenson, Marshall, our facilities, and our fans will more than make up for his connection to the Drake coach or the lure of a BSC school. Is it the 10th yet???

Johnny also has to consider where we will be next year...not necassarily this year. Murry, Stutz, and Kyles will be Soph. and ready to bring alot more. Hawk and Hannah will be the senior leaders, and will get going much earlier in the season. He will be coming in with a very good freshamn class in Kenny and Jerome. He will be able to see significant playing time right off the bat at the three behind AJ and then te opporutnity to start there after for three years. And that doesn't even include the opportunity for Baseball at the hot corner.

I still like our chances and think we are still the leader.

Honestly, I don’t believe a win tonight means one iota to Mr. Coy. He’s no dummy and understands what WSU has to offer. There’s no doubt in my mind that HCGM has ‘IT’! Sure, our players may not have ‘IT’ (yet) and it might take a few more of them (like Mr. Coy) before we have ‘IT’, but anyone with a vision can see ‘IT’ coming. If Coy believes ‘IT’, he will sign ‘IT’ and help re-build ‘IT’. If you believe ‘IT’, you can live ‘IT’. Go Shockers, you can win ‘IT’. I think Shocker22 has ‘IT’!

Johnny Coy

Johnny and his dad are at the game tonight. Coach Stephensen gave Johnny a call on his way to the game. I believe coach said he was in San Diego. Coach Stephensen also spoke to our dad for about 10 minutes or so. Johnny arrived in Wichita around 4. Should be a fun game. Wish I was there!! I read some posts on this board and I'm not sure how much a win tonight does for Johnny's opinion on WSU. I know he likes both coaching staffs (baseball and basketball) a lot and believes they will get things turned around in the near future. From my own perspective I would like to see WSU get a win tonight. After the big loss to UNI I would be a liar if I said it didn't at least bring up some concern on my part. I feel confident Coach Marshall will get things turned around, but it sure would be nice and put an ease in my mind if WSU would get a win by 15 tonight. The 10th is a date Johnny had hoped to have a decision by. After looking at the schedule it makes sense to me that Johnny should take his second visit to Drake on Sunday and watch both teams play. Then take a couple of days to think some more and then decide a day or two after the game on Sunday. That is the advice I am giving Johnny. I am not sure whether or not he will take that advice, but I think he should be in no rush. School starts the week of the 19th.
