If we are still interested in him after recruiting him earlier, I think the staff doesn't have much concern about his attitude. Have we heard about an attitude problem at Hutch?

It's pretty obvious we are going to sign at least one more this year. I believe the decision has already been made that somebody is not coming back.

The rumor about not Bowman not qualifying for D-1 next year also included Maze also not qualifying.

This article has some information about the guys. It says Bowman would not have qualified for College Park (U of Maryland), but is considering Kansas State. Maze, it says, is close to graduating.

The Terps board also says Bowman is not coming (and they weren't real excited about him anyway) and that Maze coming is still up in the air. Some feel they really need him at point, others feel he'll back up their current PG. There's even a thread on Frank Ben-Eze and whether they should persue him. Only about half want him.

message board with several posts from a guy thought to really be B. Maze.

On the last page of the thread is a discussion on whether or not he is still coming. Apparently the are going strong after a guy from TN.

Every so often it is good to remind myself why Maryland has some of, if not the worst fans in college basketball.

Sorry if this has been posted, but Maryland apparently signed Tyree Evans, the troubled guard who committed to KSU, wound up at Butler, got dismissed last year, etc. I don't know if this signing caused Maze's issues at Maryland, or what. But he is mentioned in this article as, essentially, up in the air.

For what it's worth, Marshall said in an article, I think today that he is NOt against playing 2 point guards at the same time. He did it at Winthrop. I think that would solve any problems with playing time.

I have no problems with playing 2 point guards as well.

So in theory we would run a 3 guard offense with Clemente and Ellis inside?

                    Maze, Hannah, Chamberlain, Hawkins, Clemente

That would be a tough lineup to match up to. Forgive the reference, but watching KU run with Robinson, Collins, and Chalmers (All PG's that can shoot), teams had such problems matching up.

Murry, Kyles, Ellis, Bowman, Stutz coming in to go Big.

I'm getting excited.......but not putting too much into the rumors. But still excited.......................

I think either Hannah or Chamberlain would come off the bench.

                      Maze
                      Hannah/Chamberlain
                      Hawkins
                      Clemente
                      Durley/Stutz/Orukpe

I also doubt the Maze speculation, but it's fun anyway!

Two other excellent examples of teams that put three guards that were recruited as points and had point skills were 2002 KU (Boschee, Hinrich, Miles) and 2005 Illinois (Head, Brown, Williams).

As long as two of the guards have scoring ability, running with 3 points can be devastating to the other team and create all sorts of flexibility offensively.

I say if you get a chance at a guy whose final two were Tenn and Maryland, you take a chance. The question, of course, do you really get a shot at a guy whose final two were Tenn and Maryland? Hopefully, we will.

I don't think we would be predicted to win the MVC but we sure wouldn't see anymore 7th place predictions.
