  • Hutch JC player decommit?

I heard a tease on KGSO this morning that a Hutch JC player may be available after not meeting admission standards at (I think) Maryland. They seemed to suggest WSU might be in the picture. I didn't see a post on this. I assume they are talking about Bobby Maze, who originally signed with OU and committed to Maryland late last year, but that is an assumption based on the tease. They said PG but I thought he was more of a 2, but I haven't really followed him. Anyone have any other information on this?

    re:

yes - they mentioned Bobby Maze by name around 7:30 this morning. Said there is mutual interest but that he may come with some baggage.

Did Randy say: "Well, uhhhh, yeah.... he's a good 'un!"?

If he stays out of trouble, he's all valley the first year.

Just speculation here… maybe it’s a packaged deal with Bobby Maze and Kenny Bowman? Maybe that’s what Doc has been hinting about? Damn, we’d be loaded with guards and also pick up a solid 6’-9” Power Forward. “I have a dream…”

Yeah, the package deal would make us one of the preseason favorites, that's for sure.

We would be LOADED at the point. There was a rumor about academic problems with Maze posted sometime ago. It was also already known that his teammate, Ken Bowman failed to meet Maryland's standards. I've assumed for sometime that we are still trying to get Bowman.

I like point guards and all but we need a big guy. 6' 8" or bigger would be nice. We're a little thin down low.

I heard from someone who would know that Bowman may not qualify for any D1. I know that's been rumored on here as well.

It seems like Maze is good enough that you couldn't pass him up. Could be pretty guard heavy, obviously, if he comes in ... unless some current Shockers do not return...

If we were to sign Maze, I think we would lose our "3 point specialist." Maze is talented but has a questionable attitude as described by OU. Would you trade a talent with questionable attitude, for a good kid who will always give his hardest with lessor talent?

I'll trust our coaches on this one... :good:

Maze would no doubt be our best PG. But I'd be willing to bet either Hannah or Chamberlain would not be pleased and one of them ask out of his LOI, probably Reggie since he still has the option of returning to Seward.

Maze had some sort of issues at Oklahoma. But there was an article in the Hutch News this past season that he had grown (matured) quite a bit since then.

I'd like to hear more about this (even if its by PM). The Husker fans up here are holding out hope that they get Bowman and I'd relish the opportunity to shove this in their face. :D

FWIW, my impression from watching Bowman in one game is that he is Anthony Tolliver light.
