    @JucoRecruiting
    6'11 C Jamie Echenique (Trinity Valley) has Official Visit to Wichita St this weekend. HC Gregg Marshall was in last night to see him.

    Doesn't appear to be related to Gregory Echenique. Jaime is from Colombia and played for Trinity Valley CC last season in Texas. Averaged 9.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 61% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line. Offers from Cincinnati, New Mexico, New Mexico St, Western Kentucky, UTEP.

      Let's say Jaime commits to WSU after a great weekend visit. Do we still pickup another big in the 2018 class if we land Mr. Udeze tonight? Is there room for three more bigs in this class to go along with Poor Bear?

      Jaime plays in the same league as Bush Wamukota did in Texas. Just for comparison, Jaime's freshman season was marginally better than Bush's sophomore season at Kilgore. http://njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2013-14...omwamukotal521

      Hard to find much on his recruitment but it looks like Baylor, Illinois St, Kent St, Akron and a couple of others are involved.

        I don't see anything about an offer. I'd speculate that they're looking at Echinique as a possible spring commitmentwhen the need for another post player will be more clear.
        The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
        We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

          Maybe I'm wrong, but I would doubt that we're using an official visit on a recruit that we haven't offered or plan to offer on his visit.

            See your point about the comparison. He seems to have more offense and hops than Bush turned out to have when he played. Think the staff is past reaiching for the developmental type player like Bush. Just want to continue to get athletic tall big men. On how many do you get? I have to say atleast three more if the right ones say yes. Chaney, Penn Johnson, or one of the three athletic centers out of Florida would be hard to turn down. Have to think Marshall liked what he saw when he observed him playing last week.

              Covering all the bases, just in case, it appears. We're probably just as likely to land a player like this as we are a more high profile guy. Mixed in with a top 150 or two.

                More on Echneique

                Marshall stated a longtime ago that he wants a juco big

                  A JUCO or two breaks up the 2018 class from six high schoolers to perhaps four or five. I can see the goodness in that approach, but good golly, some of the guys who we are in on right now and who have indicated interest (BPJ, Keyonte, ALo, Chaney just to name a few) make me want a class of a bunch of young guns.

                  Granted, 3G has had great success with JUCOs, but he's also developed a bunch of young men into beasts (Cotton, Morris, Kelly, FVV, Baker, just to name a few)!

                            Well, we got us another big. This could explain why BPJ does not list us in his top 6 or 7 schools. Perhaps 3G is interested in breaking up the 2018 class so he doesn't have to fill so many holes come 2022. Now, can we just get Keyonte, Reggie and A-Lo to commit?
