I hope 3G can count to six! Or seven. or Eight.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

O2 and others, Thank for your work in the recruiting trail! I mostly joined this forum for this thread and your work.
As a newb to recruiting, I have 2 questions:
      1. How does this 32# compare to other schools. My thoughts are that most schools cast a wide net and hope to land a substantially lower number. I ask because other are here are also curious what happens when an influx of commitments or LOI happen.
      2. When can we reasonably expect to see commitments for the year of 18-19? LOI? (Guess that makes 3 questions.

      Anyway, thank you all!

I would say 32 is definitely a high number, but we also just endured a conference change and a coaching change. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they aren't actively recruiting 5-10 of those players now that they previously offered.

Just guessing, for every open scholarship, a high-major school would probably offer 4 to 5 players? Offers are much more visible at the high-major level, the lower into D1 you get, the more offers that probably go unnoticed.

A handful of kids might commit in June or July but then you'll start to see more in August and then September really heats up. Nike, Adidas and Under Armour hold their championships in the middle of July so a majority of players will take visits after that.

Surprised it took so long for anyone to raise the ever-popular counting question...

              • Sully takes a look at Shocker recruiting since the announcement to join the AAC.

Rivals' national basketball analyst Eric Bossi said he saw 3G and the Shocker assistants everywhere he went in the April evaluation period which included the main gyms with the big-name teams.

Corey Evans, another national analyst with Rivals, said Wichita State cast a wide net over the past couple of weeks.

There are 3 more evaluation periods between now and July. After that most players narrow their lists and schedule visits in advance of the November signing period.

They're (Wichita State) recruiting 10 Markis McDuffie's now Evans said....

WSU still pretty attentive to hard playing big men. They've remained true to their recruiting pitch of finding blue-collar guys.

                • Pretty quiet weekend on the recruiting front. Nike's EYBL is back for session 3 next weekend.

                  Commitments:
                  Jamal Bienemy (OU)

                  Added offers:

                  Players w/ Shocker offer
                  Christian Bishop (Wichita State)
                  Mike Devoe (Pitt)
                  Jared Butler (Southern Miss)

                  Players w/ Shocker interest
                  Isarael Barnes (Penn)
                  Ed Chang (North Dakota)

Nassir Littlr, but he's probably going to Dude/UK. I also really want Thomba and Chaney inside; I like Kopp and Stevenson. So many players!

I think it's realistic we could sign 7 or 8 players when it's all said and done for this 2018 class. So it could be plausible that we sign up to 6 in the fall signing period.

Would love to have Mike Devoe, Kountz, Miller Kopp, Nassir Little and then Chaney and Thamba in the post.

                        • We have 6 Seniors so I would expect 5-6 scholarship signees with 1-2 Juco players followed up in the spring. How many JC's could have to do with Duff's and Shamet's NBA possibilities in the spring.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Little and Koop play the same positions. I like TJ Moss, Kountz, and DeVoe more than Stephenson. It all depends on who has higher interest in the Shox and who is our Plsn A and Plan B players.
