  • I'm withholding accolades until I see him at Shocker Madness. I want to see how a 7', 270 lb. guy gets up and down the court and how well he jumps. Effective defensive footwork requires being in a position to use it.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

    • He runs the court relatively well for someone that size.

I've had no contact with him nor have I heard him speak in an interview, but I wouldn't be surprised if you were to hear him and think he was from Derby. In most places in Denmark they start learning English in early elementary school and then they watch a lot of American tv and movies so they often sound like us.

        • Erik Rasmussen and Kim Roentved didn't seem to have much of a language barrier hindering them when they played for the Wings years ago, and I doubt that the teaching of English in Denmark has gone backwards since then. Plus, Midtgaard has played in a league with American pros.

He may indeed have hurdles to clear to get meaningful PT as a freshman -- not least the level of players, and their experience, who are ahead of him -- but language is unlikely to be one of them.

Excellent Wings reference. Passed on the Per Roentved and Andy Chapman references....I would too. Those were the days....Steve Pecher, Don Ebert, Slobadon, who was that goal scorer that played for the New York Arrows......?

That's good to know, pardon my ignorance there. I know he has some statements in English. I love the fact that he likes to "bang" and fight. That will fit perfectly with 3G getting it out toughness.

I hope he doesn't get the Shaq foul plagued treatment. And most of the time I don't think Shaq is even fouling when he's whistled up for one.

Are you talking about Steve Zungel? I know he also played for San Diego, but pretty sure he started with Arrows.

                    What are you talking about?

Me and Doc speak English quite good.

Just because AM grew bigly doesn't mean nothing.

Thank you. That's precisely who I was trying to remember. Old age sucks.

Only on ShockerNet can a discussion about a 7' Danish basketball player transition to a MISL topic involving the "Lord of all Indoors".

Not a big fan of Wikipedia, but there's a bunch of things about "Steve" that I just learned and found interesting (wondering if he's related to Ana Ivonovic?). Slavisa Zungul

                        • This young man has everyone excited because we have been missing that size as Marshall has pointed out on numerous occasions. Orupke was nice but was a much better defender than offensive player. From what has been said this young man has some offensive skills & a better touch from the foul line. He has played against older players back home & should be more ready to compete than most high school players. We shall all see for ourselves very soon.

Well, let's see what happens with Shaq in the American. Playing against bigger and stronger guys, maybe he won't be victimized so often by calls where something happened and the Valley refs assumed it must have been a foul on Shaq not because they saw anything, but simply because the other guy got the worst of it. There is no Tacko Fall in the Valley.

                            • As long as this guy doesn't air ball a free throw in the Final Four, I think he'll be just fine.

I'd give him an air-balled throw in a F4. I'd gladly give him 4 air-balled throws in F4's if they were all in different years.
