  • If he is willing I think a RS would be in his best interests and
the teams, as well. OR, could he possibly play for the Sunrise
elite team? If so, that would do him the most good.

    • He's going to be 20 years old by the time next season rolls around. I would be shocked if he ends up redshirting.

I have to agree. He's been playing against pros and former D-Is for three years. He doesn't need to get bigger, he just needs to learn the system.

          • He's not going to redshirt. That 2018 class is already going to be huge and I guarantee 3G isn't looking to stuff it anymore. Probably pull in 3-4 freshmen with a couple JUCO sprinkled in.

              • I'm not expecting much from Asbjorn next year. We will have at least 3 guys ahead of him so I expect AM's time to be limited to blowouts and big time foul trouble. His main goal will be to polish his game and be ready for quality minutes in 18-19.

We know he has the size and strength to be an outstanding center and he seems to have good hands, the rest can be taught. The building blocks are there and AM will have outstanding coaches and a couple of skilled seniors to learn from.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

If he really is our #4 center, he would get the same minutes next year as Hamilton got this year, which is a wasted year of eligibility

He's also the #4 center in all of Europe for the class of 2017, so there is that. The three ahead of him signed with Arizona or already pay for play When he was State side, he had what was described as an "epic battle" with a top 100 center...no clear winner was revealed by the commentators. Offers from TCU, Pitt, and NC State and interest from "every coach that saw him play."

                        • Gonna be neat seeing how Coach Marshall and staff develope him. Thinking good coaching will really improve his skill set.

                          • Even if he doesn't log a lot of minutes, he's a match up (height and bulk) that we don't have right now. Plus the year of live game experience will be better when we lose multiple post players.

Without even hedging against injuries, I can't see a RS in the God Bear's future.

I guess don't see the same guy you see.
Yeah, you must have watched the wrong video. Either that or you and I have completely different definitions of 'posting up' and 'footwork'. Second Video clip 3 he steps into a defender instead of an easy drop step layup (a la Isaac Haas). Second Video clip 4 he gets denied post position with two feet in the lane with a 'mouse in the house'. That's alright though. Wish we could have done better with our open roster spot.

I just watched both videos again and you have some valid points. However I see a guy that should be very good for us by the time its all said and done. The kid is built like a brick shithouse, he has good hands, and he's reasonably quick on his feet. Those are the things you can't teach a kid or as HCGM said when AM signed "he has hustle and muscle" which are main things he wants to see in a big guy.

Like I said, i'm expecting very little if anything from AM on the court next year, I fully expect the goal for him will be to learn as much as he can from practicing against Rauno & Shaq.
