Isn't it more common for a school to list who the player cannot transfer to?

July 14th article, 6 days ago: Buffalo granted Bearden's release to seven schools: UW, Arizona, TCU, Texas A&M, Marquette, Iowa State and Miami, according to ESPN.

Over the last few days: Appears to be interest in Oregon and WSU and possible interest (one side or the other) Virginia Tech, VCU, and Michigan not listed by the article.

    Something is odd here.

This tweet makes it sound like he specifically requested releases for those schools: https://twitter.com/GoodmanESPN/stat...34812673069056

And the tweet about Wichita State was a week after that tweet, so I'd say we are definitely in the hunt.

Probably not so odd; just a matter of timing.

Edit: I see AndShock beat me to the punch with the same point. Also, judging from one of the weed-whacking articles shoxlax posted, it sounds as though he may have had a brother sharing the experience, shall we say, with him.

Think we'd utilize him in a Wes Washpun type role here. That was my first thought watching his highlight video and looking at his KenPom stats, they are eerily similar to one another. Give him some shooters on the floor with him and let him go to work, or drive and dish.

Oregon and Wichita State remain in the running for former Germantown star Lamonte Bearden, who is transferring from Buffalo.

About 99% sure he's already visited. Very interested.

Watching the Yankees game last night, and the color crew interviewed the GM, Cashman. They asked about all of the young outfielders that the Yanks have in the high minors and the glut of promising shortstops as well. Cash replied that it would be "survival of the fittest." I am thinkin the same thing applies here.

Buffalo transfer Lamonte Bearden told @CBSSports that he's committed to Western Kentucky. Sit one, play two.--Jon Rothstein

Well, that was far from what I expected.

                      Good decision.

I'm not saying it was a bad decision,as I'm not familiar enough with his situation or that of the Hilltoppers, but what is it that makes you say it is a good decision? It seemed like he may have had several options that were more highly regarded.

The only implication I drew from @tropicalshox:'s post is that he would have a tough time seeing the floor with the stable of guards we have for the next two years and beyond. But I could be way off.

Interesting. Leaves a program that won 20 games last year, have a lot of their top players back, and defended it's tournament title of the 10th ranked conference and played in the Dance, for a team that had a losing record in the 22nd ranked conference, lost 1 of their best players, and will lose 2 more this year while he sits.

I totally agree with that, but still thought it seemed that he had better options than WKU even if not including WSU.

Maybe he wants to be "the big fish in a small pond" type of player that can carry WKU to the next level. Just seems odd to me.
