Michigan transfer Spike Albrecht told ESPN he will transfer to Purdue for his final season. Eligible to play next season for Boilermakers.

It would have been nice to have some kind of D1 experience heading into next year at the point, regardless of where, as compared to zero minutes returning. I haven't seen much of that lately, so it will be a major question mark for sure.

Just based on our recruiting this spring, it has seemed like it was being done with 1 open scholarship in mind. I think a scholarship could come become available if it was necessary and I don't think we'd be losing any scholarship players, they would just be giving up their scholarship for the next year. Whether that be a current playing becoming a walk-on or a recruit going to Sunrise, I don't know. I don't think think Gregg Marshall was waiting until we got a commitment and then planning on talking to a player and saying "yeah, we're gonna need you to transfer."

Apparently Michigan's coach wants to "have a conversation" with Spike about going to another Big 10 school. Wonder if they will try to block it.

IIRC they can't do anything about it as a grad transfer. I'm no 100% sure that I do recall correctly though.

The Big Ten has different rules for transferring and those apply to graduates as well. Although Michigan lifted the block on that.
