They apparently told him he would be buried behind senior Derrick Walton Jr. and an incoming hot-rock freshman at point guard. That doesn't mean he's not an excellent player. Career 40% 3-pt shooter with an A/TO of 3.21. Averaged 7.5 points and 4 assists per game as a healthy junior.

He came back too soon from the off-season hip surgery and called it quits in Dec. to rehab correctly. Detroit news article says he's expected to get the all-clear in May. Said to be working out now with "minimal pain."

For those of you worried about Daishon's high TO numbers, this might be a good safety net.

Spike Albrecht and Michigan are separating. The soon-to-be graduate student will likely be spending his final year at another school. "Both of us kind of moved on," Albrecht's father Chuck said Tuesday night.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Michigan recruited over him. They did not expect him to use his last year of eligibility. Beilein was shaving and realized he didn't know how to count to 13.
I know the guy wants to play but how solid can someone be after double hip surgery? I have no knowledge of what's involved but it just sounds like that's a career ender to me. I hope for his sake I'm wrong because he's a kid that's fun to watch and easy to root for.

He could do better than WSU if he wants to play

What I mean is that is he wants to get playing time, he'd be better off looking elsewhere, IMO. Such as about any other school in the Valley. I just don't see us having a need for an undersized PG coming off 2 hip surgeries. Michigan fans seem to think he's done "at this level". He could probably help a team like UNI who need a point guard.

Maybe he wants to play for a top notch coach and top notch program who competes nationally as opposed to just playing.

I suppose that's possible, but it would be much easier to just ride the bench at Michigan and get that degree. No denying he would get good coaching under 3G, but I think most collge seniors that have played at the highest level probably want to be on the court.

If he's healthy, he'd get plenty of time here. And he prolly already has his degree

You can't have too many point guards with high level D1 success.

Sorry; didn't mean to click the "like."

Anyway, "graduate transfers" already have their degrees, by definition. And Albrecht has more D-1 PG experience than any current Shocker, and at a high level, too.

This ^^^^ could be a problem. Early-season games are where the Shox have to build their at-large resume. The overseas (or is it Canada?) trip will help, but Marshall has to use a PG with approximately zero D1 experience at that position early in the season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some Simon time in situations far removed from mopup minutes. He's got some experience doing that and he didn't suck when he was called on in prime time situations.

The lack of a scholarship PG with D1 experience is troubling, but if Simon turns out to be one of the principal players at PG, I'm not thinking that's going to compromise the team's chances against some solid early-season competition.

The fact there is mutual interest would indicate our coaching staff believes we are in need of a point guard.

Or that they are always shaving, since there has also been mutual interest with some other players/positions this offseason as well.
