A friendly reminder for you all, just in case.
A good general rule is to tweet ABOUT him, not TO him.

You can tweet about them, just not at them.

      • Welcome Austin!

Maxpreps uses a formula similar to RPI to rank basketball teams. Reaves' team, Cedar Ridge, is ranked 11th in the state of Arkansas by MaxPreps. His team is in classification 3A, with the largest classification being 7A.

That's correct. Just don't @ him in the tweet.

          • Now we just need to teach him to say ArKANSAS correctly.

            • Dude has got game. He needs to thicken up some. We'll probably go around and around ad nauseam if he should redshirt so put me on the yes he should list.

That has to be the most unenforceable rule out there. I see it all the time. I could create a creighton fan account and get them in a lot of trouble if it were actually enforced

Perhaps, but better to just follow the rules and not take a chance.

I always says something like "Man, I am stoked. @PLAYERSTWITTERACCOUNT just commited to play at WSU. Excited to see him play."

That is not a direct tweet at the player. But it links him to the tweet so he at least sees it.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Still the same thing though. To be safe I would just state his name and not include his actual Twitter handle.

I'll just stay away from it, as I have no idea which of these is correct/legal.

Yeah probably best. I generally dont get involved. My understanding is you cant tweet AT him and direct any kind of conversation directly to him.

But it is such a grey area i have only tweeted maybe a couple times in the past. I certainly dont want to be the person to cause an investigation lol

                        • Do Ron and Fred get to add another assist to their career stats?

Looking forward to seeing Austin in the Shocker's Yellow and BLACK!

Yeah always better to choose the safest route. Such a grey area with social media.
