    Committed to Rhode Island.

@BSnowScout: Jeff Dowtin of the DC Blue Devils has committed to Rhode Island according to AAU coach Keith Williams http://t.co/MPyWNxwtVQ

No way to know for sure, but it would surprise me if the Shockers thought they had room for both Keyser and Dowtin, so this isn't exactly startling. Plus, this may be a reflection of the lure of staying on the East Coast, whereas Keyser had already broken away from that mindset with his year at Sunrise.

It might be easy to say now, but it we had 1 scholarship for a guard between the two, I'm really glad we got CJ.

Obviously, I'm only speculating, shizzle, but if it really was between those two, I agree -- and that's as someone who originally hoped Dowtin would commit to WSU.

As I've said before, I like tall pass-first PGs a lot, and that's Dowtin from all indications. But I like tall guards who have all-around skills and want to play Tekele Cotton's game even more. Thanks, Tekele, for the inspiration; and thanks, Sunrise, for the exposure.

I think CJ fits much better into what we need going forward. A lineup of Conner F, Peyton Allen and Jeff Dowtin may not have put much fear into perimeter opponents. With CJ, you should have a lockdown defender to help out perimeter defense who has a ton of upside on the offensive side of the ball.

That three guard line-up reminds me a bit of last years 3 guard line-up. No, I'm not saying they are as good as or even close to as good as FVV, RB, and TC, we won't know that for a while, but the skill sets seem to set-up similarly.

I agree whole-heartedly. A perimeter front line of Frankamp, Shamet, and Keyser looks nasty, not to mention Zach Brown. If CJ can develop a consistent outside shot, he looks NBA bound with his size, quickness, athleticism, and handles. Not sure he will develop a shot as a weapon though.

Good lord, I wasn't even thinking of Shamet. That makes it even better. I was thinking Peyton Allen as a pure shooting 2-guard, as some thought of RB when he first arrived.

Why so, Doc? As I said above, I certainly liked Dowtin and was hoping he'd be a Shocker, but there are only so many spots available. And I'm delighted with Keyser.
