What do you get when you take a team that made the Sweet 16 despite pretty glaring flaws, bring back 9 players and fix every conceivable issue that plagued the previous season? A national title contender, and arguably Marshall's best team.

And some of those players have an undefeated season under their belts and a Final Four?

It's impossible to predict our record next season. It's impossible to predict where we'll end up in the tournament. I feel pretty confident saying we're going to see a lot of smart play next year. I also predict that the following season shockernet will have more "SO MANY BONEHEADED PLAYS!" posts than ever before just because we have gotten so used to Fred and Ron.

His 1.5 steals a game are pretty crazy for a big man. He would have been 2nd on our entire team in steals only behind FVV who had 1.9 SPG

We are definitely spoiled, but a year with Fred and Ron for the freshmen and more experience for Conner should help ease the pain when they are gone.

One of the things I often lamented last season was that we needed one more big body. We were a good, even great team that ended the season on a high note but I felt like a single Anton Grady would have pushed us to next level. It would have relieved our guards of some of the pressure, and kept a good big on the court at all times (how many of our losses involved foul trouble for Darius or Shaq?).

Now we have that big, and another year should bring a world of improvement to some of the younger players. We were a good team last year playing our entire frontcourt out of position, with very little consistent depth. Now we have the potential to have an even better backcourt playing with a frontcourt that goes 2-3 deep at both PF and C, with players playing at their proper positions. If we can get good minutes from our returning posts and Anton can give us 9/5 with good defense, we are well-rounded and talented as any team in the country. And this could potentially open the doors for monstrous senior seasons from Ron and Fred.

I wasn't aware that Iowa St was in on him. That makes me happy and will make my ISU buddies more butthurt than normal. Can't wait to talk to them. I'm sure he wasn't up to their standards anyway.

2014/2015 we had to incorporate 8 players with no D1 game experience. Sweet 16. 2015/2016 we're incorporating 6 new players but 2 of those have D1 experience. There are no guarantees when it comes to D1 basketball but I have to think we are in a better position going into next season than we were the last.
