  • Lufile and Coleby weren't exactly monsters against good teams in 13-14 either. We need a guy who can step in and give us ~20 minutes with reliable production at the 4/5, and this fella seems by far the most likely to do that out of the candidates left in the field.

Is there an instant contributor (outside of the dream HS candidates) out there superior to this guy I am unaware of?

While this is true, that team also didn't make it out of the first weekend of the tournament either. I think the team WSU has returning, as is, is good enough to win the league and a lot of games, certainly plenty to get into the NCAAs. I think the term 'impact big', at least how I'm perceiving it for next year, is less about creating favorable matchup problems against Missouri State, and more about eliminating/reducing unfavorable matchup problems against Kentucky et. al.

Having said that, I have no idea which bill this individual would fit.

        • Yea, I hear ya that a big man of that quality would be great. There just aren't any plug in fifth years who can go toe to toe with a Willie Cauley-Stein caliber center- any that could would be declaring for the draft rather than transferring.

I've been hoping for an 8-10 ppg type guy, which is about what it'd take IMO to push us into solid contention for a 1 seed. I think Grady would get us there. That said, who knows if we are on his radar.

I think Shaq is your guy for 8-10. I know he has yet to show that he can move around as well as Carter, but he can score. With our guards set, we just need a 5 spot that can hook and drop step. I don't know too much about the recruits, though. I really think it's Shaquille who will be our eventual hero for the prescribed needs.
We will win games with our starting line-up now. As for a #1 seed, we can earn it with our team now too. Sure I am all for finding the next Hall, but WSU isn't depending on it, yet.

We are definitely expecting increased production from Shaq. The idea is to allow him to produce from the 4, rather than the 5, and to couple him with another capable big man next year while we enjoy one of the biggest backcourt advantages in the country.

Marshall is pursuing a 5 for this very reason as reported by Suellentrop.

There isn't a recruit on the planet that will replace #3EW. I read the majority of the article. It really does look how i suggested earlier. We will see a potential Tevin Glass minute guy. Regardless of talent, he will have to beat Shaq for minutes. IDK who will be on the floor, but you have to understand fvv,rb,ew will be there. Even Bush Tom has more minutes the new guy will have to steal.

Maybe you have EW at the 3?

His name is Tom "Bush" Wamukota. If you're going to post here spell the players names correctly.

Would rather not get a one seed if that means having to always play teams that are purposely under seeded

                        • There's just something really charming about Bush Dubya. I want to land an awesome big if one is out there, but it would also bring a big smile to my face if Wamukota holds it down next year. He's my favorite dark horse in the quest for an awesome center. Not because I am confident he will do anything, but because it would just be fun to watch another juco develop under Marshall.

I think Nurger and Wamukota have some things in common with Stutz and Orukpe as a tandem. I want to see that tandem happen next year. I wonder how much magic Marshall can work this off season?

Maybe. I guess you could be right. He has done it before. But it looks messy to expect a guy to be a great four given what we already have. We will see.

I don't expect offensive greatness from Bush. We have already seen how good he is. He will get a little better. He can work the Screens for the roll, he does a very good job screening under the hoop. Rebounding is my major concern for him. I want him to be there boxing out everytime. I think he will improve his minutes for sure. That is depending on if Cleanthony is foregoing his soph NBA year to return.

Edit: sorry i forgot to say how much I agree with u and that Bush is my favorite bench guy when watching games.
