He spent two years at prep school, which you can't do. Kind of a screwy situation, but right now he has just two years left. Could end up that he gets a third.

I originally thought he would have 3 years to play but found he spent 2 years at a prep school. Because of that he was declared ineligible to play his freshman year at Houston and it appears lost one year of total eligibility.

Does he lose a year or is he considered a non-qualifier and if he graduates in four, he can get another year at the end?

I think the best chance of appeal that he might have (if he has one) would be the ex-assistant at Rice (who was his advisor) advised him to take another year of prep school.

The advisor/ex-assistant has disavowed any knowledge of alleged 'advice'. Since two players, both from Houston and both with the same advisor were involved and both with the same story, perhaps the NCAA might give the year back if it is appealed.

Of course I'm making that statement with no knowledge of the NCAA eligibility process. Could be it's a kangaroo court in these sorts of situations.

If it does turn out to be Ahmed, I would be good with this choice. He's active, mobile and has really good hands. Mature body and very experienced, with two major international tournaments and four years of U.S. ball at the prep school, AAU and juco levels, plus one redshirt/ineligible year at Houston. He's a natural rebounder, as evidenced by his tournament-leading 12.1 rpg at the 2010 U17 World Championships (He was fourth in scoring in that event at 16.6 ppg, including 18 pts / 8 reb in a blowout loss to Team USA). Likes to crash from the outside and has a knack (in the two games we have video for) of flushing missed shots.

What I really like is that he's a pure post. He's not looking to extend out to three or face up. He's comfortable with his back to the basket, throwing his 230 around.

2009-10 -- (Egyptian U16 and U17 National Team) 16.2 ppg/8 rpg in the 2009 FIBA Africa U16; 16.6/12.1 in the 2010 FIBA U17 Worlds (as a 6-6 forward)
2010-11 -- (played for Al Ittihad Alexandria in some capacity) No stats available. Listed at 6-7. Came to the U.S. and played a few games for Trent Internationale in the Spring of 2011.
2011-12 -- (Trent Internationale) No stats available.
2012-13 -- (Trent Internationale) 18.7/13.6 (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools MVP) Signed with Houston over Auburn, Drexel and LaSalle.
2013-14 -- Redshirted but then declared ineligible at Houston. Listed at 6-9, 255. Transferred out and took an official to St. John's before deciding on Lee College.
2014-15 -- (Lee College) 16.3/10.8. (listed at 6-9, 230).
