  • Link to video referenced without a link a few posts up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNpu...ature=youtu.be. At one point, after McDuffie hit a 3, you can hear someone say, "Hasn't missed one yet".

Highlight videos never show defense, boxing out, or much rebounding. He's going to have to have all of that before he sees the court. I'm not saying he doesn't have all that, just that none of us have seen those areas of his game.

Give him those areas of the game and teach him a few post-up moves and ...picture Early playing SF. He and Hamilton could well become Bookends II.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Landry's rank stayed the same with the new update. Markis was unranked before this new update today.

        • I guess Landry Shamet takes the helm as the highest rated player signed by Marshall? If you count Conner, he was #34, Fred was #138.

Recruited goes to Shamet... Signed goes to Frankamp... Best player after dust settles goes to Van Vleet...nba player goes to Early

Dust hasn't settled on Shamet or Frankamp yet, but I agree about Fred to date - they have a high bar.

Fred was 138 if you only consider Rivals. He was too 100 on Scout and ESPN.

                  • Our old assistant Forbes had the best breakdown about this on talk angry' podcast.... He said and I'm paraphrasing, "the top 25/30 guys are your slam dunk pro prospects, after that from 30-120ish it's a matter of opinion, there's guys ranked over 100 that I would take over guys in the top 40 of some of these rankings". As long as we're pulling top 150 guys, I trust Marshall's eye for talent.

Won't we have 4 top 100's on the roster next season, in total? FVV, LS, MM, CF?

Yes, five actually. I was speaking about the freshman class specifically.

                          Of the 12 scholarship players:

                          Baker - 2*
                          Wessel - 2*
VanVleet - top 100 per two sites. Consensus top 150
                          Wamukota - 2*
                          Nurger - 3*
                          Morris - 3*
                          Kelly - 3*
                          Brown - top 100
                          Frankamp - top 50 consensus
                          Taylor - 3*
Hamilton - 3*, but one guru stated he was top 100
                          McDuffie - top 100, consensus top 150
                          Shamet - top 100

                              • I'm going to put this here instead of in all the threads where someone is projecting McDuffie to be in the starting lineup the day he steps on campus - or even a significant contributor next year.

You might want to back off just a little. I expect McDuffie will be a major player in his time at WSU, but expecting him to be significant next year isn't realistic. If he can achieve that, we need to take our hats off to the young man. If it takes him a year to bulk up, learn the system, adjust to D1 ball, and fit into the rotation, that seems to be the more likely path.

At every position he could play, there are returning players who've played against Indiana, KU, and Notre Dame. Those returning players took WSU to a top-15 ranking and a S16. McDuffie doesn't have a year in the WSU system, and he's played his last few games against HS teams.

Kelly didn't have a great NCAA tournament, but he had his unimpressive games against D1 bluebloods. McDuffie had his impressive last few games agains HS teams.

It's not as easy to break into the lineup now as it was when Baker, VanVleet, and Wessel joined the program.

If Wessel stays at PF, that puts Brown at SF. It's not going to be easy to take minutes from the guy who clowned a likely NBA 1st-round pick in the NCAA tourney.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
