We are not recruiting any differently, and are definitely not recruiting to get the top rated class.

We are recruiting the same caliber kids we always have, but are getting more interest each year from the first group than in years past.

I think there are more than that in the class of 2015, and I know there are more in 2016.

By my count we have expressed interest in 17 players that are ranked in the top 100 by at least one service and graduate in 2015. 8 players in the class of 16 and 2 from the class of 17. A handful are rated in the top 25 (5*).

They don't know jack. That said, if we are going after top 100 kids, we are going to miss on most.

or, you could say they are going to miss on us. We only have 2 slots (maybe 3) available. We're looking for the best kids that will make our program better, not all these kids are ready to play for 3G.

@EvanDaniels: Donovan Mitchell will visit Villanova on August 4th & likely Louisville on August 8th. I expect him to see Indiana & Florida State soon too.

Looking east right now, but during the summer that's okay.

WSU needs for him to take an official visit here once he can watch a practice and see whether he can stand up to being one of the few, the proud, the Shockers.

                            MITCHELL OWNED JULY

No player improved his stock in July more than Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy standout Donovan Mitchell. I watched the powerfully built 6-foot-3 guard in every July evaluation period and a total of four times. Each time he was impressive. Last November he was known as an athlete with potential on the defensive end. Now he’s much more than and is a shot maker from three. All four times I watched him in July he hit multiple threes, including three or more in three of the games. He’s an improved ball handler and passer as well. He makes aggressive plays towards the rim and once he’s there he’s a terrific finisher because of his strength and athleticism. Speaking of his athleticism, he’s quite gifted in that area and is capable of highlight reel dunks in transition or off put backs. He’s a lock down defender that moves well laterally and plays a tough, physically brand of ball. Heading into July, Mitchell wasn’t regarded as a top 100 prospect. Now he’s in the conversation for a spot in Scout.com’s top 25.

Donovan Mitchell, a senior-to-be at Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy, received the second most votes from college coaches with 11. The 6-foot-3 guard was one of the biggest stories of July. He was a known recruit, but unranked by Scout.com. That will change when rankings are updated in a couple of weeks. Mitchell is a tough, physical guard that attacks the basket with aggression and defends with intensity.

Mitchell is due a jump in rankings “He had some moments where you just saw the competitive juices come out of him,” one college coach told Scout.com.
“He is a rare combination of full effort and total control,” The City coach Arjay Perovic said when asked about Mitchell. “He is the total package.”
