I brought this up in another thread and most just ignored it lol. I think it is unlikely, but it might be wise to hold the scholarship for next year. I would love for us to get a monster 5 this year to put next to all our returning guys, but the reality is it is very late in the recruiting game and most of those monster 5s are already spoken for or our chances are very slim. We are talking to some very high quality recruits in the class of 15. Going 35-0 has open even more doors than were already open. Let's say we are able to snag a top 100 guy with that last scholarship next year. It could be better in the long run to save it for next year, as hard as it is to do..

I think we are looking for a stretch 4 that can play the 5 if needed. There are several guys that fit the bill.

Based on the already noted opinions on this forum and what I believe is the intent of WSU basketball, there is little to no chance of saving the scholy. If a competent big man can't be secured, there are still other high-level positions to be had, plus D1 transfer options. The one position that is in question is at the 5. A combo 4/5 guy would be a nice get. Although Shaq has freakish skills, his "want to" is still in question. The 7-0 Bush is unproven as well. If this question mark can be answered with a serviceable contribution in 2014-15, this could be another magical season.

Here are all the team stats at NW Fla. Glass had better stats, but more minutes, than Hurt.

That could be a telling thing for us, in terms of his level of talent, stamina, and value to a team.

IMO...if Jordan ******* is truly about just winning then he is making a tremendous mistake picking New Mexico over Wichita State...because thats what Gregg Marshall does is win and win consistently

I agree with you. I believe we will fill the spot. That still is unrelated to the fact it could be wiser to hold it for next year where we only have a couple spots open at the moment.

Jordan seems like a fine young man and a good player. Would like to have him on board the Shocker locomotive. However, if a young man chooses another program over Wichita State it does not make him a bad person. Very hard to predict what will catch a kids fancy about any particular program.

What I do know is that Jordan could thrive very will at Wichita State with the appropriate work ethic ala Cleanthony Early.

Of course, that doesn't mean he won't do well if he chooses another program. Tough choice for a young guy.

Becoming a Wichita State Shocker would be a very, very good decision for Jordan IMHO.

It's never wise to have a short roster. Never. Ne.He.Ver.

HCGM dealt with a short bench his first year here, and I'm guessing he will do everything in his power to make sure it doesn't happen again.

We got super lucky that Fred, Ron or Tekele didn't get hurt or battle foul trouble much this year.

I would say even if we don't fill the spot we will be a very deep team. All the positions except the 5 will be 2-3 players deep. FVV, Baker, Cotton, Carter, Shaq, Wamukota, Brown, Kelly, Holland, Henderson, Wessel, and Simon should all play some. That's 12 deep right there and that assuming Hamilton RS and Bush doesn't play any.

The potential challenge is that we don't have a post player that can shoot with range, which can be crucial to our half-court offense.

We may be deep with bodies, but not in skill-set, which could be as bad or worse.

I agree that we need a presence in the post that can shoot with SOME range, like out to 12-15'. I would have preferred JT to keep his body in closer to the basket instead of wandering around the 3 point line but thats just me. If Carter can develop a little shot in that 12-15' range it would help a lot.

I count 5 deep with Fred, Ron, Tekele, Carter amd Wessell. Everything else is unknown. And Simon? Really?

You fill the roster with the best players you can and hope 2-3 give you significant contributions.

This is why I see a big stretch 4 with the last schollie. Kelly might be able to fill that role.
