I will happily take another player in the mold of EO. Now let's find another Carl Hall to go with him.

      Still no.

I have my reasons, but this is what happens when Plans A, B & C don't come through.

      WStateU,
You are the unequaled master of the well timed clip - no argument there. I enjoy each & every one of them!

      That is all.

I was going to quote the picture and add "That is all" onto it. Thanks for doing it for me, @ShockRef:, and props for the sense of humor. If B-Wam is checking this page out, he must be thinking, "What the heck?!"

Having soft hands is a lot different than EO.

I agree with ref about not getting plan A or B. I am still a bit surprised this signing happened now, unless Marshall feels Bush is as good as it gets in this recruiting class at this position. I was hoping a better player based on previous statistical performance would be available.

Having said that, maybe Marshall is good with having a 7-foot athletic presence occupy the 5 spot. My hesitation is that Bush appears too much like EO, but hopefully he comes with better hands and the ability to knock down free throws. If those concerns are put to bed, hopefully we have a guy in Bush that will play enough minutes to take full advantage of his physical makeup and skill set.

It is reported that bush has played basketball for a number of years. Has good hands and touch. He hit a big growth spurt and is most likely adjusting a little. I think by next year we will have a solid 5 man that hopefully transitions to D1 quickly.

Perhaps the coaching staff was not as upset with what they got out of EO as you were.

Do you honestly believe behind closed doors, after the blood, sweat, time, money and hoop jumping it took to get EO to WSU, the coaching staff expected his SR year to yield 2.5 ppg/4.5 rpg/15 mpg/1.5 bpg? Trust me the expectations were much higher. Now, he became a Shocker, so by that definition I was rooting for him every second he was on the floor. Plus, he was one of the classiest of all student-athletes in recent memory.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Do you think they expected his SR year to yield a Final Four appearance?

Don't forget to throw Jake White and CJ into the that Einstein statement. They each had an impact as well.

                      • Bush will, for better or worse, be compared to EO by the fans. One thing he will not likely be is one of the most hyped recruits in Shocker history (as EO was). I for one am extremely pleased to have wrapped up a 7-0, 225 lb jumping jack before anyone else knows he exists! His presence alone is worth a couple of defensive stops per game.

                          • It's easy to forget, but when eo was first recruited, the cupboards were ABSOLUTELY bare. The talent that was brought in during the time it took to get to his sr year played IMHO a major roll in his lack of impressive stats and even improvement.

You quote those senior year numbers like that's everything HCGM looks for in a recruit.

If we're going to reach for a player with "upside", don't you want to take a chance on a guy who's 7', athletic, coachable and will get his degree?

I believe we were analyzing your thoughts on EO. Now I'm getting confused. You mean to tell me that basketball is a team sport where individuals of varying skill sets can each make meaningful contributions to individual victories, season accomplishments and program building? Interesting concept. Perhaps the coaching staff feels this recruit has assets that can be a piece on another successful team.

Your point that EO was not wholly responsible for WSU's recent success and Final Four run is valid. I never said otherwise. My point that listing EO's statistics and off-court qualities without including the team's success while he was here is just as valid.
