  • Cat has a Bush on his back!

Wow -- 53-49 in a juco game? That's like a typical halftime score. (Although the shooting percentages explain what happened -- did they have oval rims, or what?)

      Funny.

      • Did EO ever make 3-4 FT's in a game? I remember he hit a couple of huge freebies vs Southern Miss at IBA. Not sure what we have with B-Wam but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Maybe they borrowed some goals form the free throw shooting thing on the midway at the State fair?
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Southern Miss, game #12 in 2012-13, he was 3-4. Only time in 12-13 season he had better than 50% in any game.

            • Charter member of the Bush Wamukota fan club here to give you his latest game stats. Again Old Miss recruit Mr. Moody was chucking the ball up as soon as he passed half court but the big fella did pull down a ton of boards. I can't tell you how hard it is to watch these games especially when you are trying to critique a big man. There is just no real flow to the game and no concerted effort to feed the post.

              • A pretty normal game for Bush but he did have 9 points.

                • Could you imagine if Bush would develop into an Embid-like college player??

Sorry to bring up a player for "you know who", but I have said before that he is the one player in the nation I would take to start on this team over any current player we have.

                  • I like the fact that he only averages about 2 fouls a game. It will be nice to have a 7 footer that can play D. I can see him fitting in Coleby's role just fine.

This! A shot altering 7 footer with decent hands and decent footwork. 20 minutes, 4 points, 4 boards, 1 block and a master at hedging screens.

                      • And unlike Coleby, he'll have two years to play. I look for a nice improvement from his junior to senior year.

Take those 2 fouls/gm with a grain of salt. We downplay his points per game because we say juco offenses and guards don't try very hard to feed the post. If that's true, then he's also not having to defend post players trying to score as often as he will in the NCAA. We can't use "juco style" to excuse his lack of scoring while praising his lack of fouls. Even if his height and shot-blocking is a deterrent to opponents feeding the post, NCAA teams aren't going to be as respectful until he proves he can do it at our level.

Look at EO's senior year. It took half a season before teams quit trying to challenge him, because he spent the first half sending shots back from whence they came.

                          • You could be right, I don't watch JUCO ball so I couldn't tell you if the guards and wings are shooting threes or driving in the lane. If it's the latter, than he does have to play defense even if it's not against another post. Either way, it seems like EO had more foul problems in JUCO than Bush seems to have.

Royal is half right. I do think that JC's don't have post offenses who with back to the basket games as much as they will see in the NCAA. However, guards do challenge post rim defenders by driving the lane and post rebounders also challenge with putbacks.

                              • I have no metric to back this up, but in my observations, most fouls by post players are due to them defending their man once he gets the ball. Not only that, the level of post player most juco bigs are regularly facing aren't of the quality they will see night in, night out in the NCAA. I just think it's a huge jump defensively between juco and NCAA D-1. And it's evidenced by the leap in improvement we see from juco bigs between their junior and senior years.
