I read all of the posts but I have to say that "it's Bush's fault" is the funniest thing I have ever read here.

Coach Marshall does a superb job of recruiting players that fit the Marshall Plan. Look at the defensive potential of the incoming recruits about to sign with us. They are 'scary good' on D already it appears. Remember last Season when the fans from the 4 schools we beat at the Dance wondered in unison as to why their team was off the night they played us? Our Defense played a big part in these 4 wins by a team picked 4th in the Valley that landed smack-dab in the Final 4 with 4 wins at the Dance. Just imagine a Shocker team with 5 players that could all play defense like Tekele Cotton in simultaneous fashion. BW will not have to be relied on for oodles of points. However, he can rebound, alter shots, block shots, set picks, etc. like a rock star knowing we will have plenty of scorers the 2 Seasons he will be playing for us. I am an offensive minded fan. Great Defense can lead to mammoth results.

Meanwhile, a tip of the hat to good old FSF for trying to get us back on track, and with a good point about the importance of defense. I suspect that one of the reasons Marshall's recruits aren't necessarily as highly starred as some may be that they tend to focus more on defense, even before college, than do the big scorers who get all the accolades. It's not that they can't score -- Marshall likes makers, after all -- or learn to, as Cotton did with his three-point game; it's just that they can play both ways to begin with. So when they kick it up a notch by learning Shocker defense, things happen like those off shooting nights by the big name opponents last March.

Great, just what this program needs, another overhyped EO twin with raw skills who will amount to a hill of beans. The only thing I remember about EO is his gut wrenching horribly missed free throws against Louisville that pretty much solidified the loss and blew all the momentum we had in that game.

If this guy proves me wrong, I'll eat a plate of water buffalo ballz from his native country.

However,I think saying Bush won't amount to a "hill of beans" is a little over the top. I acknowledge EO's contributions on the defensive end as well as his deficiencies. I am now optimistic about Bush and think if he can be utilized in a similar fashion to EO that would be ok. HCGM tried to mitigate EOs liability on the offensive end and did a decent job the majority of the time, but when playing with fire you will occasionally get burnt. If some of you are honest with yourselves, your first thought when looking at this recruit was probably similar to what KC posted above, followed by some rationalizing, and topped off with optimism, and then followed by shaming KC for his comments.

However,I think saying Bush won't amount to a "hill of beans" is a little over the top. I acknowledge EO's contributions on the defensive end as well as his deficiencies. I am now optimistic about Bush and think if he can be utilized in a similar fashion to EO that would be ok. We don't beat Pitt without Ehimen. We don't beat Gonzaga without Ehimen. We lose 3-4 more games during the year without Ehimen. If you look at ANY game last year, you will see how the game changed when Ehimen was on the floor.

We got everything we were promised from Ehimen. He kept to his word and made it to campus. He was a 7' Nigerian who ran like a gazelle. He was a presence in the lane that affected the game. He allowed the defenders on the perimeter to take chances and risk getting beat because he was back there.

More importantly, he was an excellent ambassador for Wichita State University. He represented his family proudly. He represented us proudly. He worked hard, and did everything that was asked of him in the classroom and on the court.

If we get 3/4 out of Mr. Wamukota that we did out of Ehimen, I will be a VERY happy Shocker.

True, sometimes for better sometimes for worse. However, I don't disagree with the rest of what you are saying. I would shake his hand and thank him for all he contributed to our success last year. I will just leave it at that.
