I'm guessing that Early won't be back next year, either.
Not that it has much to do with Willie Atwood, but what the hell -- this is Shockernet, right? (and, besides, at least it isn't wasting a precious opportunity to add to the Wamukota thread) -- here are some numbers for those who like getting their jollies between hack-a-Willie sessions by pointlessly speculating on who may or may not be back next year.
As a freshman in 2011-12, Evan Wessel, in all of 13 games (40%) for a 27-6 team, played a grand total of 99 minutes, not many more than James Anacreon got. He shot 35% from the field, 23% from three, and missed his only two FTs. Hopeless, right? Might as well leave the program for one not "at this level" so Marshall could better use his scholarship, right? Well, guess who was in the starting lineup at the beginning of the following season and averaged 19 minutes a game while establishing himself as a solid defender and the team's best three-ball shooter before a broken finger sat him down way prematurely? If you guessed that very same "hopeless" Evan Wessel, you win the prize.
Bottom line: don't be too quick to look at the boxes and pretend you're some oracle who can divine what's going to happen next year.Last edited by WSUwatcher; November 26, 2013, 03:41 PM.
