  • I like where Kelly talks about Marshall's office in this article.

    • I love this quote from the article
“ I know I’m not going to be the go-to guy early, but I just know there’s going to be a lot of opportunity,” he said. “Over the years I see myself becoming an important part of the program.”
This tells me he knows he has to work for everything and has no problem with that.

      • The Hargrave website roster page has Raschard as 6'8"

A physician called into a radio show and said:

My personal favorite from the article:

While Kelly may not be the Shockers’ star player during his time at WSU, he certainly will be a role player and has the ability to be the team’s X-factor in the years ahead. According to Hargrave coach A.W. Hamilton, Kelly’s ability to play multiple positions and his dynamic style of play make him a great fit for the Shockers.
We can use another X-factor anyday... :good:

Well, high schools frequently overstate heights, just as colleges sometimes do. So who knows? We just need a 6-7 poster from on here who's willing to pay a visit to Virginia, stand next to Kelly, and find out for sure. Any volunteers?

            • Darn, I'm only 6'5" and just moved from Virginia 3 months ago. I guess I'm out.

              • Regardless of his height, I'm excited to get a 6-6 to 6-8 combo forward of Mr. Kelly's status!

                    • Brown was listed at 6-6 until recently. I believe he is now listed at 6-7. At the time that photo was taken Kelly was probably an inch taller than Brown.

                      • Height is always amazing, but I would always rather have a shorter guy that can ball than a big guy that has minimal skills. We've done alright in the past with guys like 6'5 Jamar Howard, and 6'6 Ramon Clemente both playing power forward. In fact now that I think of it, didn't 6'5 Ben Smith even play some power forward?

Smith played quite a bit of PF as a senior.

                            I will take 6-6 guy with a 36" vertical over a 6-8 guy with a 30" vertical.

Then there is the explosion factor - slow off the floor v. fast off the floor.

                            • I'd rather have a 6'7" guy that plays big (Carl Hall) than a 7 footer that plays small (Stutz), no offense. Hustle, athleticism and desire will trump height any day.

                              • I would rather have a good big guy than a good little guy. So would everyone else. The end.
