Maybe Jans was involved some but I remember that Heier was the main recruiter of Early. Heier had earlier connections with him because he recruited Cle earlier when he was going to a Juco. Cle chose to stay close to home because of the death of his brother.

I admit I'm a little surprised by this though. About a month ago he made it sound like the odds of us going after another were slim to none, and now it seems like we may be looking for one more. Last year, we knew we were going to bring in another one or two players even though we were at/over the limit. If he's pursuing hard, he knows someone is leaving/not showing up.

Well, if we get another making us 2 over, I wonder if the Canadians are gone. I'm just guessing.

At this point, I do wonder about CJ. But I also wonder about Watson ever getting here. I'd never considered Nick leaving. I think with Mal and DWill both leaving, there are more minutes to be had for the guards. Fred will take a lot of Mals minutes, but someone is going to take what Fred leaves behind. Ron and DJ may share those. Now that I think about it though, we'll have Wessel back as well... Minutes could be hard for some to get as we have very good guard depth. Throw in Green and the possibility of Early playing more SF and I don't know what to think. Playing time will be earned no matter who's here.

I'll wait until April/May before I try to figure that all out :D

I'd like to follow on SubGod's point and say that when Nick was playing this season, it seemed as if his defense got better. I'm not saying he is playing good defense, what I am saying is that he played little defense when he got here and he made considerable improvement as the season went on.

I'm thinking he made enough improvement that with some offseason work he will be much better next year. If he works hard during the off season, I expect to see him a lot more next year.

And I agree that I thought Nick made some good progress on D and rebounding this year. If he's willing to work hard and bust his butt, he could definitely earn PT. He has to know at this point that D matters and guys like Cotton, Baker and Wessel have an advantage there. He has to make his potential offensive advantage stand out by not allowing his defensive disadvantages be so glaring. I think he's more than capable.

I don't think that we are recruiting anyone else for next year unless people leave. I can forsee the possibility that a couple of people may evaluate their situation and decide that they would like to be somewhere else so that they can play more minutes next year. The coach and one player will make that decision and maybe another player will decide it's in their best interest too. That's why we are still recruiting this year.

If we are still recruiting, and it sure looks like we are, Coach already knows who's leaving. IMO the reason we are still recruiting is to get better, win more games, sell more tickets.

Why do you assume that Gregg already knows who is leaving? He knows who doesn't the ability to ever play at Wichita State, but like EO, looks at what is best for the team and player. Every year they have meetings the week following the last game. I don't think that in every meeting, Gregg already knows what is going to be said. Coach and the player have frank talks about what the player needs and wants for next year. Gregg may be ready to tell a player that this is what you need to do to play here. I think that often the conversation is a two way conversation, not always a one sided conversation where Gregg is saying that we don't have a spot for you next year.

Fair question. I think that Gregg cares about upgrading our program and also cares about his players. I think that our nucleus is already here for next year. If Gregg had a chance at a #1 recruit or a high major recruit, he'd most likely take the opportunity. But I don't see anyone on our list that is in that category (good recruits that may upgrade us in the long term but still mid level), thus my opinion that I take him at his word that we are done recruiting (he said on his coaches show several weeks ago) at this point unless something else happens.

Oh I'm sure he will end up there and I'm sure he will rape WSU for 4 years. That seems to be how it works every time. Granted WSU won more than a majority against Topeka guy (holy crap I can't recall his name) and WSU is already 3-0 against Thurman. Still I don't want to see this kid at Missouri State.
