It was 3 defensive plays by Murry down the stretch clinging to a 1 pt lead that sealed the victory,a pickpocket steal that led to a 3 on 1 score which he made the asst,a block out of nowhere that took a sure layup, the ball stuck between the rim and backboard and KF had the arrow, and a charging foul he drew that was the biggest play of the game. After the charging foul as they were walking to the bench for a timeout he chewed out a teammate. The leadership was vintage.

T's sure a keeper. I can't wait to see him grow up into such a special player. He has this insatiable hunger to win and only thing to cure is with more cowbell....er winning.

        Awesome report! Thanks bsm.

This is the kind of leadership that, unfortunately, we have been sorely lacking on the court for awhile.

I saw the Klein Forest vs. Mesquite game last night. After watching Toure Murray for only one game, here are my thoughts. I use PJ as a comparison because I think you can get a little better picture of his game that way and he does have the same body type and size.

          1) Toure reminds me of a young PJ in some ways. He is long, athletic and a little on the thin side. I think he shoots the ball better and with better form than PJ. He can really move his feet on defense and could develop into another PJ type defender. I don't know if he is quite as athletic as PJ.

          2) He handles the ball well but I don't see him playing the point. He is a 2 or 3 at WSU. His current team is basically all guards and so he is not asked to handle the ball much so I could be mistaken here, but I don't think he plays 1 at WSU.

          3) I spoke to a coach that lost to Forest in the playoffs and he affirmed that Toure is a very good player. As he said, KF has so many good players no one is likely to stand out because no one has to take over the game for them to win. That was one thing I would have liked to have seen more of last night, Toure asserting himself. He did make a couple of plays late, but he also stayed in the background for too much of the game in my eyes. But with the team they have, I can understand why.

          4) Don't expect Toure to come in and be a difference maker his freshman year. Like any freshman he will have a learning curve. I could see him having the impact PJ did his (redshirt) freshman year . Come off the bench and give the team some really good minutes and provide a spark. Of course with our guard situation next year he may not be able to come off the bench - he may start.

          5) To summarize my thoughts: Toure has the ability to be a better player than PJ by the time he is done at WSU. It all depends on how hard he works and whether he can be a consistent scorer and outside shooter at the D1 level. My guess is all this will happen and Shocker fans will be very happy but I've only seen him play one game so it really is only a guess.

I believe Forest will beat Plano East tonight to go to the state tournament next week. Forest has 2 very good players (PG has committed to Rice and SF has signed with Wake Forest), but Toure's team has too much quickness for the other Plano East guards. It would be interesting to see Forest in the state tournament. To give you an idea how hard it is getting to the state tournament, Duncanville, the defending state champ in 5A and currently ranked #4 in the country by USA Today, was defeated last night by North Crowley.

I know everyone is looking forward to this recruiting class so I thought I'd share my two cents worth.

Toure with 12 to lead a balanced Golden Eagle attack.

They will play next week against San Antonio Madison.

Klein Forest will be favored, Madison did not win their district.

                  Good Luck Toure!

Great game!!KF made 15 3s that's 15 for 32 47%. Toure made 4, all in the second half for his 12 pts( 4-9) to go with 9 reb 4 asst 1 blk 4 stls 2 to.The stat line doesn't tell the story, the ball pressure rattled every ball handler and forced 19 TO.Plano E was afraid to dribble in his vicinity.

                    • Thanks BSM for the report. Those are some nice stats. 4 assists and 4 steals caught my eye, and the 2.0 assist to turnover ratio is good.

I am excited about all our recruits next year, but especially want to see how well our guards play together, including AJ too.

                      • I pay attention to stuff like this ,it can't be taught, you either have it or you don't.Of course everybody is bigger than KF ,Toure Murry being their tallest player at 6/4.Plano East was huge 6/8 ,6/7,6/7 across the front. In the early stages of the game Murry went up and snagged a reb and one of the bigs stepped in quick and aggressive to tie him up and the quick whistle ref called jumpball but he didn't step all the way in to separate the kids and Murry spreaded his elbows chesting the ball and went nose to nose X-Man Jordan style with the big kid to say to everybody watching we will not be intimidated , and the ref gave a double technical. From that point on the game turned in Forest favor. That impressed the hell out of me.That kid was 6/7 230 headed to Wake Forest, Toure' is 6/4 168 tops.

                              • I wonder if the Texas championships make it onto regional television? Is there a chance that a Fox Sports channel could have them at an odd time?
