In the other 4 games, he averaged 2 ppg and was 2 for 29. If he becomes more consistent as he gets older, he could contribute.

WSU has 4 guards on the roster. I don’t count Ricks until I see it on the court. Still room for 2 or 3 more.
As long he doesn't dribble the ball off of his foot on a fast break, or throw it over the backboard, or pass the ball to a fan in the front row he'll be an improvement over what we saw this year, A LOT. Like, every game, A LOT. Maybe Porter was on the bench on most of those fast breaks.

I noticed his scoring picked up the last several weeks of the season also (sort of).

      Shocks. Still. Need. Size.
Barring any addition additions at the SG position (I would take one Rudi please), I wonder if the coaches expect Bell and Pierre to compete for the starting job. Both have three years of eligibility remaining and have had similar production so far.

Why is he a great signing? We need another PG and some outside shooting, neither of which he seems to provide. Still would like another 6-9 or 6-10 guy as well.

Not down on him because he could be a good player, but just seems like an unusual use of a scholarship with the voids we need to fill.

I really like Bell and Rojas. Ballard is unique enough he was worth the risk. Okafor gives us another dimension of a midrange game we haven’t had. Don’t know enough about Wilson to see if he will pan out, but he had some good games against good competition. So far the class gets a C+ in my book with a chance to move up to B or B+ depending on the last three scholarships.

I’m higher on him than most seem to be on this board.

3* out of HS ranked 240 nationally by maxpreps.com 2 yrs ago. Conference USA all freshman team.

watch his film. More impressive/explosive and pure shot than you would think just viewing numbers. Feels like his stat %’s were repressed like Etiennes since he felt he had to take a lot more shots than desired due to a lack of shooters around you. 1st video is first half of freshman year. 2nd video is a HS game where he made 9 three pointers. If he is a backup ; hell of a backup. Want a sign of a shooter ? QUICK release

St. Augustine 2020 G Jaron Pierre (@_EliteRon1) was on 🔥🔥🔥 in the Purple Knight Classic Championship against Thibodaux. He went 9-of-17 from 3-point range...

Well anyone that can shoot and make nine 3pointers in a game can shoot. We need players that can shoot. and make shots. He also. made the All Freshman team in his league his first year in college. But what I really like about him is his length, and the fact that he can dribble the ball and get to the cup and finish and shoot the midrange shot. Those are skills that the Shocks were lacking last year. Go Shocks.

We’ve had a lot of guys over the years have huge 3 point games, I’ll take a guy that can for 4 for 6 night in and night out, but I’ll save my judgement on this guy until he suits up and plays a game.

He is certainly aggressive and not afraid to take shots. IF and big IF the Shox can form some semblance of an actual structured offense this season, I hope he can play within that. If it's more of last season it will be a free for all.

"Well anyone that can shoot and make nine 3pointers in a game can shoot." That was high school. He's a 33% 3pt shooter in 2 years of college ball.

"We need players that can shoot. and make shots." In those 2 years, he's shot 36% overall.

"But what I really like about him is his length, and the fact that he can dribble the ball and get to the cup and finish and shoot the midrange shot." He's 39% from inside the arc. Shoots 44% of his shots from inside the arc. Played most his games in C-USA.

Craig Porter shot 46% from inside the arc last year where he shot 71% of his shots. Also shot 34% from 3. 42% overall. Played most his games in the AAC.

I do hope he does well for the Shocks.

Well I think he will be a fine addition. He can dribble without kicking the ball out of bounds. He is more than athletic enough for the AAC. And speaking of shooting here are some fun facts

6 for 11 from 3 point line against South Alabama.

6 for 8 from 3 point line against Middle. Tennessee.

                      3 for 5 against Tulane.

I think he will be ok shooting 3 pointers. His 36% results in 2 years is better than our entire team shot this year. Look atthe stats, Who on WSU shot better than 36% from the 3 point line thus year? Nothing but CLANG from our guys this year. Go Shocks.

You make a good case but we still need another PG.

Question is, does he take good 3 pointers or the TE type?

Read a little closer. Pierre did NOT shoot 36% from 3. He shot 33.5 for the last 2 years (33.7 20-21/33.3 21-22).

He shot 36% OVERALL for the last 2 years (38.6 in 20-21/34.2 in 21-22). Even ETN shot 35.9 overall in 21-22 (34.2 overall for Pierre).

You are not only cherry picking games for his shooting, but you cherry picked from his 2020-21 year (he shot better that year than 21-22). Minus the 3 games you picked, he shot 23.5% from 3 in all other games. CLANG!

Pierre's most effective trait is in transition. WSU needs a little -ahem- help in that department. Even Ray Charles could see that.

Per Taylor: Per Synergy, Pierre had his most success in transition where he scored 1.01 points per possession and ranked in the 50th percentile nationally. He also scored 0.91 points per possession on his jump shots, which ranked in the 52nd percentile.

                                Good pick up.
