  • Zack Bush

Noticed the paper had an article on him today.

Here is some video of him, looks like D1 athlete to me. Looks like a good passer, defender, shooter and athletic. Of course I have no real clue. Guess my question is has WSU shown any interest and could a situation similar to Ron Bakers be possible with him?

A 6'6" kid that can handle the ball is intriguing.

In my opinion he is a D-1 player at some level. Why UMKC isn't falling all over themselves for him probably explains why their program is where it is at.

He's 6'6" and he doesn't play center in 5A ball? That kid looks talented.. very talented.

I graduated in 2006 from Goddard and his mom was one of the girls PE coaches if i remember correctly. I do remember he would be in the gym at the HS before his school started and he would be shooting hoops and lighting it up, it was pretty amazing to watch him drop shot after shot, i always wondered how he was going to do once he got to the Highschool level.

Looking at his recruiting profile, the speed / strength / jumping numbers don't really stand out (especially 5.1 in the 40), so it may be that coaches question his athletic ability to play in a quality D-1 program. I doubt that he compares all that favorably to Evan Wessel, for example, who was also a football standout. So that may be working against him.

On the other hand, "growth spurt" players have been known to be underrated and thus underrecruited. An example I've mentioned several times before is Gordon Hayward, who had a legacy offer from Purdue but otherwise had to choose either Butler, IUPUI (really!), or the prep /juco route. Obviously, he turned out very nicely for Butler. But he was also a superior all-around athlete who nearly gave up basketball for tennis before shooting up in height.

One would have to believe the Shocker coaches are aware of him

WSU is fully aware of Zach with an 'H' ... sorry I hate misspelled names. Jans was at the EHS/Andover Central and keeps in touch with him. He's been invited to the latter-half our home games this year. Kid has game, determination and a good bball IQ. I dont know why he hasnt gotten more interests for lower D-1's but I'll give a good guess and say some team will get a steal with him. Regarding the 40 time ... i understand playing fast and quick and the need for it but whats a 40 time really tell you in a bball player? not much. You watch him live or on film he is plenty quick and uses his length on D to his advantage.

                    What's his 3-point shooting like?

Any chance he might be willing to do a 5 for 4 deal like Ron Baker has done?

Sounds like a good kid and a hard worker. Look at how Graham Hach transformed himself.

I don't think he's a walkon candidate. Will probably go JUCO if he doesn't get an offer

I've just heard that Zach had chosen to go to Washburn, but has recently changed his mind and will be a redshirt walk-on at WSU. Anyone else hear anything about this?

So, my fellow Tide fan, how do you know this? And if it's true, is it possible that he's this year's Ron Baker-to-be? Or is he just a standard walk-on?
