  • If he goes to ISU, he will get cleared immediately. If he chose WSU, the NCAA would adjudicate his case in 2065. Around the time they finally declare Grant Gibbs officially out of eligibility.

Don't sweat it if he doesn't choose WSU, the NCAA would piss on the parade anyway.

    • I forsee a Iowa St. vs. Wichita St. match-up in March. Big-time surprise (bonus) if the King is wearing black and yellow by then. Question is where does the NCAA "want" him placed? A P'5...or risking another American Conference team in the tourney? Lol

      • Did some light reading on the ISU board. I’m all cornfused now on which team had 2 wins last season and which won their conference and went to the NCAA tournament…

        • A lot of good players go to Iowa State to see their futures die unfortunately

          • If he were to be eligible it would raise our ceiling, especially as we are competing against teams (many of whom are tourney bound) that have solid inside play.

But if he wasn't going to be eligible until next season, it would be best to pass.

Either way, it sounds like the decision has been made for us. But getting him in with eligibility this spring would have been really nice. Do we have any bag men we can call?

What’s the likelihood this guy could come to Ames? Visits this Saturday deciding soon thereafter. Missouri, Wichita State and us in the mix. Possible transfer coming into the 2nd semester I’m told... Would need an NCAA waiver.

                    • Do we even know if McFarlane's scholarship is available to be used second semester? As I recall from an earlier post, ISU only has 10 players on scholarship, so they are known to have an immediate scholarship available.

I don’t have any direct proof of it but I think Taylor or someone said that they would’ve needed the NCAA’s appeal process to go through for the scholarship to be used this semester, but they won’t have to do that if they want to use it next semester.

The scholarship would be available from our end without an appeal for spring because MM only took summer school classes. King would still need an appeal for a same year transfer though.

                          • My recollection is that the scholly would only be available to WSU if McFarlane's appeal was granted. Then at that point WSU could have the scholly for second semester.

Congrats to King. Wish him the best. Hopefully he made the right decision. Would have been nice but the Shocks will be just fine.
