Watched him play a number of times. Has a really nice outside shot not tremendously athletic but can hold his own. Sunrise played a killer schedule and he can play with the big time.

The WSU Scandinavian connection still seems to be intact thanks to coach Brown and staff.

Makes it sound like he’s more of a stretch 4 than a 5. Needs to develop a better post-up game and not a great leaper, he’s got time to learn and the size to build from.

                              1. Glad to see the Shocks bring in some young blood and not just all of transfers. 2. Glad to see they finally got a big, 6-11. And 3. A quality big (3 star, top 150) and local. The 4 & 5 spots are really looking good & solid! Much more height and athleticism. Way to go coach Brown!

No doubt about it. The entire Hudl video shows him playing against all kinds of posts; big, skinny, fast and slow, but they were all 6'9-7' (at least). That's why I didn't think his post game wast too limited from the highlites in the video. Those were real bigs he was working against down there.

What really got me more than slightly intrigued was the 'scout' report from the Gopher board. It pointed how how Pohto held his own against another big that attended DeMatha in high school and was the DC metro player of the year and the same kid who was a standout for the Wolverines this year as a frosh; Hunter Dickinson:

When Pohto does pop the screen or find himself open from deep, he can knock those shots down at a clip that is much higher than the average big man. Playing drop coverage against a big that can shoot like that is tough, because if the guard see's that, he can easily attract that big who's defending the screen for a long enough time to get Pohto open. Pohto did this against DeMatha in a matchup against 7'1" four-star and top-40 2020 Michigan commit Hunter Dickinson, and gave him some trouble with his ability to both stretch the floor and find open space in the defense.

Here's to hoping WSU has a point man next year who really knows how to play the pick-n-pop (or roll) game.
