Arop sounds like another Rod Brown. We don’t have another player like Ndiaye. He’s a stretch 4 who will be a rim protector similar to Orupke (obviously not quite to that level).

I would say Arop sounds like a much longer, more offensively polished and offensive-minded Rod Brown, although we'll see how much Rod has progressed this summer. Arop is likely more ready to play significant minutes immediately than Ndiaye. But your point is well-taken: While Echenique has solid block stats (albeit inflated by one freak 13 block game), none of the bigs we have currently appear to be elite shot blockers. Ndiaye gives us that, and those guys don't just grow on trees.

    • His body type reminds me of Paskal Siakimm.. Might be why he caught the eye of UNLV. Paskal considers himself a new type positionless player and this guy may be the same.

      • I was laughed at in my section when Siakim and New Mexico State played here 4 seasons ago. My comments of "that guy is going to be in the league I promise you" were met with both scorn and guffaw. To those within earshot, I have a long memory.

And apparently surrounded by people with no eye for talent.

A few too many closet beakers as well. Especially for my taste.

      • Well, it looks like Mr. N'diaye has left for greener pastures. Perhaps 3G hesitated when he discovered the big fella's vertical leap was comparable to an Aardvark's...

        24 inches? Really?

LOL This is hilarious. Gregg may have found a few holes in his game but jumping isn't one of them. He has some fast twitch muscles in those skinny legs of his that anyone can see. So does Arop although his legs aren't as skinny.

              Consult Ricky about skinny legs.

              Spindly legs, to be exact.

              Carry on.

And we 3G has never recruited players with spindly legs right Markis?

          • Where are we getting that he has a 24" vertical anyway?

            • That's just the one when standing still I think, not the one with a run and leap. I think called standing vertical?

For everyone asking where the 24-inch vertical came from. It's a standing vert, so comparably that's not bad at all.

Specially when you can probably touch the rim and the floor at the same time.

I did not see where it was delineated as standing vertical.

I can get very picky when Lunker shopping. There are things I can look past and clear deal-breakers.

                  CB's Lunker dream options:

                  1) 5-star/borderline 5-star rating (I will make exceptions if 3G states/infers said rating based on opinion)
                  2) 6'9+
                  3) Must instinctively know what to do when within 3 feet of the basket
                  4) A sturdy weight
                  5) A surly attitude

                  CB's willing to overlook:

                  1) Low IQ
                  2) Bad hygiene
                  3) Missing teeth
                  4) No English

A lot of people like to look at the number of stars next to a recruit's name in order to deem them worthy of a scholarship offer. If that were the case with 6'10 Abdou Ndiaye,

                  Kind of funny
