Yeah this guy seems all over the place with who his favorites are day by day.

The visit to Wichita State next weekend was mentioned in an article by the Auburn Tigers Scout site. Deontae wasn't quoted about the visit so it's possible the writer obtained the information from previous knowlege. An Ohio recruiting expert is checking for us if indeed the visit is still on. Hopefully I'll hear from him soon.

As a junior his stats were 16.1ppg, 7.7rpg and 2.3 blocks per game. He sees himself as a combo forward. Plans to sign in the early period.

ESPN Rumors pointed out that the report on Hawkins' visit to Auburn was one of the "more glowing" reviews and speculated that Auburn may get him. I took it with a grain of salt since it came from a biased writer. However Hawkins did say, "...and I think this is where I need to be."

ESPN also says Deontae is planning on visiting WSU this weekend.

There's been speculation regarding Hawkins and pg Andre Yates going together to Dayton. Dayton just got a verbal from St. John's decommit pg Jevon Thomas. This probably decreases chances of Yates going to Dayton and perhaps also Hawkins. It also increases Creighton's hopes of getting Yates.

If he even visits, Ford & Heier should get a raise. 8)

I suspect the paperwork for said increases has been set in motion. :D

Hawkins would be a REDICULOUSLY good cap on the 2012 recruiting class! Perhaps HE is the reason that HCGM told Gavin to wait?

On the other hand, I've rarely been correct on my recruiting speculation.

We seem to have no ships. However, we lost 5 players that will be missing this Season. We will also lose 5 Seniors next Season. Thus, we may have to get a little greedy? Maybe not, but I would loveeeeee to sign this player. If not, then in the late signing period, if openings do arise, we have the most capable Staff of recruiters ever. As our SN AD likes to say, "I am NOT worried."

                            Wow

I have complete faith in Marshall and his staff, but how on earth do they find spots for all these guys?

In 2011-12, WSU has 16 scholarship caliber players filling 13 spots: the 13 scholarship players (five seniors, four juniors, and four freshmen) plus Armstead, Mitchell, and Baker, who are either required or planning to sit out. Then, in 2012-13, assuming all of the commitments so far hold up, even after losing five seniors they still have 15 scholarship caliber players to fill their 13 spots: this season's four juniors and four freshmen, plus Baker reportedly moving onto a scholarship, plus four guys who have committed (Uwadiae, Early, Green, and Van Vleet), plus Armstead and Mitchell.

And yet they still want Hawkins, who would be #16 again when he arrives! Well, if the Shocks want him, I hope they get him, because he sounds plenty worth having; and I trust them to be able to work it out legally and ethically. I guess I just have to sit back and marvel at how they manage to do it.

Don't worry. Coach Marshall has a "what if" plan for every possibility.

He knows his recruiting practices will be under a bright and hot spotlight from many sources.

He will not do anything dumb. I would bet $5 to a donut on it.
