  • The Signings and verbals locked thread

Is there a way to get this updated? I really like the graph it has and gives a lot of good info if it were only up to date. I know shockerhoops.net has something similar and easy to check, but it isn't accurate either. Just a small request.

I gotta agree it is time for someone to update this thread as only DWill is still a Shocker basketball player. Let's get some news on there about the newer signings and recruits.

That grid is pretty nice. Johnny Coy, 6'7" Forward. Is he going to help us solidify the front court next year?

I did like that thread. It was a nice for info at a glance and showing where we stood. And with 4 ships available for '12 (Baker takes one) it would be nice. I can't wait to start getting more info over the '12 recruits and hearing about the first commitment. We have a number of offers out for our 4 spots.

        PF Perry Ellis 6'8"
        SF Marcus Hunt 6'5"
        SG Kenny Gaines 6'4"
        SF Brandon Morris 6'7"
        PG Carlton Ford 6'2"
        SF Devonte Thornton 6'7"
        SG Justin Campbell 6'3"
        SF E.J. Reed 6'5"
        SG B.J. Houston 6'7"
        PG Buddy Heild 6'3"
        PF Gavin Thurman 6'6"
        PF Maurice Letcher-Ellis 6'8"

I'm obviously bored and this is a list I've gathered from Rivals and Trop. If I had to pick four I think I'd go with

        PF Perry Ellis
        SG Kenny Gaines
        SG BJ Houston
        PG Buddy Heild
and if our last one for '11 goes unfilled:
        SF Devonte Thornton

That would give us a roster of:
        C - Ehimen (SR)
PF - Hall (SR) White (SO/RFR) Ellis (FR)
SF - Wessel (SO/RFR) Ede (SO) Thornton (FR) Houston (FR)
SG - Baker (RFR) Gaines (FR)
PG - Williams (SR) Cotton (SO/RFR) Heild (FR)

Maybe a depth chart looking something like:
        C - Hall/Ehimen
        PF - Ellis/White
        SF - Ede/Wessel/Thornton/Houston
        SG - Gaines/Houston/Cotton/Baker
        PG - Williams/Heild/Cotton

So ideally we need to sign another big (C) in the class of '12. Possibly Durley? Who knows... That would put us quite guard heavy now that I look at it. And young. May even need a couple of centers. Possibly a JUCO. Or at least a JUCO in '13 as well as a FR and another PG. Maybe I'd do away with Thornton and get a big. That would make the most sense to me. Not that any of this really matters. It's a slow day at work and there's nothing that really interests me going on right now outside of the weather which is wait and see at this point.

And I expect we'll see a few more offers pop up over the summer. We probably need to be targeting a big man in the middle though.

Just for fun here are my current favorites, trying to keep it realistic:

Perry Ellis and Gavin Thurman, giving us a Wichita flavor
Buddy Heild, opening up Sunrise to the Shockers
Aaron Durley, keeping it a family affair
Fred Van Vleet, sounds like a good pg addition

This would put us over but seems like we (and most teams) lose somebody every year.

How would that put us over? We graduate Toure, David, Garrett, Ben, and Joe. One of their scholarships will be taken by Baker, but that still leaves 4. Plus we still haven't filled Tyler's scholarship yet.

Five recruits were listed. Good chance we get somebody else this summer.

Ok. I thought you were referring to the list of favorites you gave, not Sub's list.

I'll go with a transfer for Tyler's this summer.
                      Next 4?
Ellis, Van Fleet, Durley and Waverly.....and Baker, of course.
