    It stinks either way.
It's a cut throat world. Kill or be killed...your choice.
And yet, very, very few schools practice this kind of thing. Try and justify it all you want, it's a disgusting move.
We have the picture - you don't like it.

      • It was awful many moons ago when we lost Ralph Miller as a Coach. Not only did he move the X&O's with the best of them, he was a great recruiter. As I recall, when he left, at least 2 of his recruits we thought were coming here followed him to his next job. It happens from both directions.

My question could have already been answered and maybe I missed it. If Keith DeWitt ends up here as a Shocker, would he have to sit out a year or can he play on our Summer trip and next Season? No matter what people think, if he wants to come here and does, then we will all be licking our black and yellow chops baby.

Greg Heiar appears to be a solid Coach and an awesome recruiter. Gregg Marshall understands how important a great Staff surrounding you is. The better the players we can get in here, the quicker we will Dance. People used to speak of how instrumental Jeff Jones was in several of Gene Smithson's recruits signing here. Whether or not we sign Keith D., we can be rest assured that Greg Heiar will be a blessing for we Shocker fans because it is obvious that he can flat out recruit big-time players.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

          • If they waited to release him till August, he would miss the trip to Europe.

I watched that entire Chipola/Northwest Florida game, and I wasn't
              that impressed with him.
Snap, have you noticed that every time you make an evaluation of a player's ability it seems to fly in the face of what all the expert analysis is about that player?

At this point, you being unimpressed is about the biggest thumbs up for a player I can imagine.
              Snap,
This guy is a player. A big time player.

6'10" athletic dudes who can handle the ball, block shots, rebound and run the floor like a gazelle don't grow on trees in your back yard.

This guy is not a E.O. type project. He comes to town and starts right now.

              Trust SR.

              That is all. 8)

                • Pair KD with GS and CH (w/EO & JW) in the front court along with 4 Sr's in the back court, (w/DW in the mix) and just try to think of any team even close to that type of talent in The Valley.

It will be the best collection of athletes this program has seen since the days of Antione, Cliff & "X"

However, there is drawback to a KD signing (and sighting).

Have fun trying to get tickets to next years games.

Good luck with that little ordeal.

                      • I prefer watching trees in the paint instead of in my back yard. There's more action in the paint.

Watching trees grow is worse than watching paint dry.

I believe I've reached my quota of weak puns for the day.

                        • Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees. However, on this one, I do solemnly believe he would provide immediate help as SR truthfully indicates. His Juco rankings are sky high. All along, I have been wishin and hopin for one more big to finalize our roster for next Season. If we get this player, my rockin-chair will be in need of WD40 because things in Shockerland will be buzzing and That is the way we rock & roll.

                          Run Forrest Run!!!!!!!

                          • I don't like the idea of a coach TRYING to get players to come to his new school, but I have no problem if it is the player's desire to follow a coach to a new school. I see no reason to refuse players because they want to follow the coach. I hope he is a Shocker.

                            • I don't know what Southern Miss will do, but if I were in their shoes, I would release DeWitt, but wait to do so until the signing period was over.

That way WSU would have to choose whether they wanted to sign someone else or let the signing period expire in the hopes that DeWitt gets his release.

If WSU were to sign someone, Southern Miss could ask DeWitt if he still wanted his release if there wasn't a roster spot at Haier's new school. If WSU didn't sign anyone, it would have at least made WSU sacrifice considering other options in order to keep the DeWitt option on the table.

Wouldn't that also inhibit Southern Miss' ability to fill said empty position (at least with a signee)? But I see what you're saying. I just think it's a gamble for all parties.
