Employee agrees and comes aboard because the new job is a better situation for them. Right or wrong?
Non of us SN'ers have any idea what kind of relationship GH and KD have but if he transfers to WSU it's obvious that Keith and his family are close to GH. If this young man wants to play for GH, he should be able to.
I really doubt that we are actively recruiting him while he is still locked into his LOI. This is Keith and his family's decision and no one else.
When Gene took the OU job for a day, he and BK were on the phone to several of the WSU recruits trying to take them to OU with them. Just sayin.....
NCAA sports are highly competitive business'. There are alot of things that go on in the business world that are cut throat and I don't care for but the bottom line is it's not illegal.
IMO, Southern Miss would cut our throats in a New York minute (sorry Maggie). Not saying I agree with this but it is what it is.

There are valid points on both sides of liking or not liking the situation (which has not happened yet by the way). It's a personal decision. Bottom line is Gregg still runs a class program and there are far worse things being done by other coaches and schools. If this is what happens and Gregg thinks it's best for the program, I am behind it 100%.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Perhaps all the WSU coaches have told him that he should stick with his commitment to USM. BUT, if the young man does not want to stay at USM, then are we really going to deny him an opportunity to play where he wants? He certainly does not owe an explanation of his actions to satisfy shockernet's arbitrary recruiting ethics, does he?
Oh, and Huggins did do this when he was hired at K-State. He brought in Dalonte Hill who took "his" recruits to K-State from Charlotte.

I left my last job because my boss, who made working there enjoyable, was scapegoated and let go. A little different situation but it was that relationship that made it work.
These kids develop relationships with the coaches during the recruiting process. It's the relationships with coaches and the feel they get from interaction with current players that have the most significant impact on their school choice. Maybe it's different at the Duke/UNC/KU'/UK level where the school's brand is significant.
And I know there are other things that go into it, but outside of the very elite level, here is my guess at the pecking order for things a recruit looks at:
1. Player has idea of what level his game fits.
2. Gets an idea of what conference(s) that is.
3. Establishes rappoire with coaches and staffs.
4. Sets up visits based on previous critieria
5. Sees how he relates to current players
6. Looks at school, location and fans
Yes, there will be a number of kids who don't fit that model when being recruited. Location (close or far from home), academic programs and off-campus activities may factor in more. But I bet the vast majority of players fit reasonably close.
I guess I"m just saying that the more I understand how important relationships are in the recruiting process, the more I'm beginning to accept that things like the potential Dewitt scenario are going to happen.
The thing that bugs me about Bowles is that he based his commitment on Turgeon (if you recall the story, he committed without visiting, once MT was in his living room) but once he thought he was better than WSU, he was ready to bolt, until Turgeon left. If I was MT, I would have been too insulted to take him at aTm.

To show the pictures or to not show the pictures.....
My SASO dollars only give me the right to see what
those who's job it really is, to decide what I see.
So, as a rabid fan of MY school, I support 3G in whatever HE decides. He wants whats best for him and WSU and thats what we all want too. Of course this is just my opinion and everyone has the right to theirs.

I think a big reason why this doesn't happen more is that when a coach moves on, either the coach no longer feels the player is the caliber he needs at his new destination or the player thinks he's better than where the coaching is going or it isn't a good fit. See my previous post.
Look at how Bowles was used by Turgeon at aTm. I don't think MT thought he was quite good enough for aTm. I suspect those coaches who do move on and tell their recruits to honor their commitment are really just being diplomatic. If they thought the player(s) was good enough, they would take them.
If more coaches made lateral moves, this practice would be rampant, I think.
