Parker, Thurman, Henry and Ellis? Would that be so bad? We'd get the much needed PG in Parker. A couple of CF types in Thurman and Ellis and a PF/C in Henry. Bigs are definitely the biggest priority with one SR two JRs and a FR on this seasons roster. After this season we have (SR) Ehimen, (SR) Hall and (SO) White. Adding Henry (verbal?), Thurman and Ellis would go a long way into solidifying the interior. And if either of those two are able to step out and play SF all the better.

Can you imagine how big a lineup we could go with? Ehimen (7'), Hall (6'8"), Ellis (6'8), Ede (6'6") and Wessel (6'5") :D Maybe that's wishful thinking but it's fun!!!

would probably be the best recruiting class we've had in 25 years.

Three-star four man Gavin Thurman of Wichita (Kan.) Heights will take a visit to Wichita State on Friday. The Shockers are pushing hard for a commitment and doing everything they can to get it before he hits the road with KC Pump 'N Run in July. Creighton and Missouri State have also offered the 6-foot-7 forward.

The Shockers also had one of their top targets in town over the weekend when Kansas City (Kan.) Sumner point guard Benny Parker visited. "

PS. It was nice seeing our recruiting making this article.

I'll add that I've recently heard he wants to wait until at least after the July evaluation periods to make a decision. Hopefully the staff will change his mind.
Would love to see him commit. All I know is I may bash my head against a wall if we lose a recruit here in Wichita to either Creighton or Missouri St!
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

If we could get both Thurman and Ellis to commit, that could open the door for more local kids committing in the future.

If Ellis commits to Wichita State over the likes of Duke, Kentucky and Kansas, that'd be the biggest recruiting story in the history of Wichita State basketball.

In other news.... according to espn, we're going to try and push Gavin Thurman to commit when he visits the school today.

                Edit:

Not sure about the history of the program. We had 2 McD AA's in '79 with Carr and Levinston and 2 in '81 with Sherrod and Dreiling.

I don't believe recruiting was nearly as nationwide and mainstream back in the early 80s as it is today. That's why I made that statement. People know about 6th graders now. I highly doubt it went that deep back in 1982.

I don't believe Gavin has planned to commit until after the July evaluation periods. It could be hard to get him to change that but it will at least show the Shocker's intent on keeping him and Wichita's finest in the city.

Be OK, except I think we are closer to having Fred Van Vleet as the PG rather than Parker. Van Vleet has major interest in the Shockers and is perhaps ready to commit, to us or two others. We might hear about this very soon.

That'd be fine by me. So many kids and I forget some of them. Even forgot about Buddy. Either way, we need a PG in this class along with a couple of post players. FVV, Thurman, Ellis, Henry, Parker, Hield, ??? I'd take any of them. FVV and Buddy would be at the top of my list for a PG, I think. I'd have to go back and look at all options. But I like those two.

Would LOVE to hear of an official verbal on someone soon. It's nice getting a couple of those out of the way during the summer.
