It is not a joke, and yes the 7 percent was reached on Monday or early Tuesday. Are there any SGA students that post here? Any updates? From what I've heard, the first few days had very favorable responses from students.

    Go Shox!

    • Checked out the current projects of the WSU SGA. I know it has been said on this topic but wanted to see it for myself. Check out the last on the current projects list.

      Current Projects:

•Stoplight and crosswalk on 18th/Alumni & Hillside to increase motorist and pedestrian safety during high-traffic times.
•Increasing campus maps and street sign visibility for new WSU students and visitors.
•Restricted Parking for those with access to restricted parking lots to ease parking congestion.
      •24 hour Library
•A bicycle rental program for students working towards a heart-healthy lifestyle, exploring the city, and without means of transportation to off-campus jobs.
•Creating bike lanes on campus streets and sidewalks for motorist, cyclist and pedestrian safety.
•Making the current recycling efforts of the University more visable and viable for students to participate in.
•Investigating the feasibility of reforming the WSU football team.

      • To further expand. I was given a survey as a student which involved fees for different programs and privileges. Two questions were related to football.

        1. Would your student pride be increased if WSU had a football team?
        2. Would you be willing to have student fees increased X dollars to help funda football program?

I forgot how much they were asking for, but this is more evidence the university is actively looking at the possibilities.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

          What was your response?

Also that was stated by another posted earlier in this thread. Just letting you know, I'm sure you probably just started on this page and didn't see it but somebody saying that is what sparked my desire to go to the SGA page and see what they had.

          • My response was "DO IT". Unfortunately, that was not an option, so I simply said "yes".

            Sorry, my mistake.

              Woohoo, there is one yes.

AG said he heard the responses where favorable, hopefully that is the case.

                • Talked to Dr Beggs this morning and brought up the survey. He said they (SGA) had received approximately 2,000 surveys back and 1,200 had responded that they would be in favor of increased student fees for a return of football.

Assuming 15,000 students, my math says that would be approximately 3MM per year… hmmm, interesting. We’d still need to raise another 30MM for start-up costs.

“So you’re tellin’ me there’s a chance, yeaaaaa!”

According to the Sunflower article the number exceeded 1600. 81% to be more precise.

The question is, is that 81% (of 14% of the students) a concentration of those who support bringing back football? In other words, if all students were asked, would those in favor actually be a minority?

But for argument's sake, let's say it is a good representation and football is brought back. $3MM is actually a decent amount to subsidize a FCS program once it got started.

Actually, all students were asked. Only 14% responded. If all students responded the support would no doubt be much lower. Whether are not it would still be a majority is hard to say? Still, I think the survey results are somewhat encouraging.

The big question is whether or not these survey results will lead to any action or will just be filed away in the "that was interesting, so what" file.
