Pretty nice summer for Gage winning both the Kansas Amateur Stroke Play and the Kansas Amateur Match Play Championships.

Shocks have pretty experienced team heading into Year 1 of American Conference play with 4 seniors and 2 juniors on the roster. Year 2 may be a bit of a challenge though as we have to replace those 4 seniros.

Coach Jones did sign two high school golfers with solid resumes last November that will join the team this year but aren't listed on the roster yet. Hopefully, he will nab a couple of other strong recruits this November out of the Class of 2018.

The young man Gage defeated for the Kansas Amateur Match Plays title is part of Wichita golf royalty. Sam Stevens is the grandson of Shocker Hall of Famer Johnny Stevens. Johnny won the Kansas Amateur in 1960 and 1961 and Sam's dad, Charlie won it in 2010. Sam won it in 2015 to go with his three 2nd place finishes. So the Stevens family are no strangers to golf success in Kansas.

Sam's sister Abby was a member of the Shocker Women's tennis team from 2013-2016 after playing her freshman season at Colorado State.
